The new web series from the makers of Modern War Gear Solid.
WHAT IS MARIO WARFARE?
Bowser's airships rain destruction on the Mushroom Kingdom. The King is missing, presumed dead. The Princess is on the run. A couple plumbers answer the call of duty and sign up to fight. Now Mario, Luigi (and a team of old school video game characters) are thrown into the gritty new world of first person shooters like COD and Battlefield.
Imagine "Super Mario Brothers meets Blackhawk Down." With a healthy dose of humor. That's our new web series, Mario Warfare! It's a loving parody of classic video games and epic action-films.
WHAT IS THE STATUS OF MARIO WARFARE?
We've filmed two episodes of Mario Warfare so far. We just released the first episode! We want to make more, but we've exhausted our personal funds. With your support we can start making more episodes right away and we can complete this series in 2013. Your support will greatly speed up production and allow us to add more characters, locations, and epic moments!
WHO IS BEHIND MARIO WARFARE?
You might know Beat Down Boogie from our past web series, "Modern War Gear Solid." If not, that's OK! I'll introduce us!
Beat Down Boogie is a Youtube Channel comprised of DIY Filmmakers, independent stunt people, and video game enthusiasts. The thing we like most about filmmaking is giving people a laugh or a smile when they need one most. Feel free to hang out with us on our facebook!www.facebook.com/beatdownboogie
We love the international audience made possible by YouTube. Our last web series was subtitled in over 10 languages on Youtube and we're working on making Mario Warfare equally accessible to the international audience and our hearing-impaired friends! We plan to have English subtitles on the DVD version, too.
HOW WILL THE FUNDING BE USED?
This Kickstarter fund will go toward props, costumes, locations, hard drive space, safety gear for our stuntmen, and making the series more epic. It will also allow us to produce DVDs, T-shirts, and other rewards for our Kickstarter contributors! We currently have no plans to sell merchandise in a store, so these Kickstarter rewards will probably be the only opportunity to get your hands on DVD copies, art works, and shirts.
WHAT IF YOU SURPASS YOUR GOAL?
If we surpass our goal, any additional amount we make will be invested in making Mario Warfare MORE EPIC. On the low end, that might mean adding more characters or episodes. On the high-end that might mean building mechs or getting military vehicles.
If we're fortunate enough to exceed our goal, we've prepared some stretch goals.
If we raise 30,000 we'll dress up Matt Sumner (our lead actor) as Sailor Moon and make a film about it.
If we raise 40,000 we'll make a new episode of Modern War Gear Solid.
If we raise A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT we can make Beat Down Boogie a full-time thing, and create a lot more content each year.
We really appreciate your consideration! This is what we love to do, and we can't express our appreciation enough! I hope that when you see the epic conclusion of Mario Warfare, you can proudly think "that's - in part - because of me."
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Since we have full time jobs, our production schedule can be tricky. Sometimes we get lucky and have decent simultaneous availability. Other times, schedule conflicts lead to delays. But we are very dedicated and passionate about finishing Mario Warfare. We would just ask for patience and understanding when it comes to schedule as this is a project we have to work on during the weeknights and weekends.
