Lets put it bluntly for what it is. Kitten Dump is a super silly reflex game inspired by titles such as Fruit Ninja and various other reflex games. We've definitely added our own unique touch, as it is quite challenging and put into a unique funny context. Well. It's about cute puppies... which, on the path of evil, are going to catapult innocent kittens into a deep ravine. The goal? We're playing a little girl called "Hoodgirl", who, in sight of this madness, goes into a frenzy state of mind, gathering her inner superpower of empathy to gloriously catch every single kitten in her bag. Yep, that's the premise. It's madness, right? But this project surprised us and I hope it will surprise you just as much. It went from weird, to silly, to something completely adorable and badass at the same time. I fell in love with it and I hope you do too! Be aware, Kitten Dump is very hard. Especially for those not too familiar with high speed reflex games. Practice and patience should rapidly let anyone progress further into the gameplay.
You play as Hoodgirl. What you want to do is basically use Hoodgirl's ribbon to save every single kitten that are being thrown your way. There are two ways to lose the game : When a kitten falls down the ravine without you catching it, or when your bag full of kittens gets wrecked. What you need to do is catch the kittens, but carefully avoiding all incoming objects. The puppies throw three objects that must be avoided : the dynamite, the TV, and the sword. When you swipe your finger on one of these objects, your bag takes a hit and an X will appear over it. When you get three X's, you lose the game. This is one of the reasons why it is so hard at first. Your bag is tiny, green, and can only take three hits. But hang on, there's upgrades! Once you've caught 100 kittens, your bag will upgrade. There are two bag upgrades. They both add three more X's, thus making the bag more resistant to your mistake swipes. For example, if you reach the highest bag evolution (the red bag), and you get hit three times, it will then diminish to the previous form (the yellow bag). Get hit three more times and you're back to the original green bag, facing the chance of losing. There is also a way to gather "lives" for the kittens that you miss. A chicken will run to you every once in a while, and you can stock up on these guys as "lives". When you miss a kitten, a chicken will come to its rescue and return it to the bag for you! So gather as much chicken as you can, and accumulate the kittens to make your bag evolve, before hitting too many objects. Further on, the dogs will start making appearances and cast spells to mess with your heroism. Yes, they cast spells. They are that evil. What about skins? So far we have three skins to unlock through various specific challenges. This sums up the current state of our progress. =)
We had mixed feelings about asking for people's money on Kickstarter for a mobile game. But like for any other games, it takes a lot of time and money to make it through the development. We are only two developers at Pexira, so this little game is still pretty big to handle quickly. The problem is, the mobile market is quite chaotic and flooded with new apps every day. So if we want to make a stand out there and aim for a remotely small success, one needs a publicity budget. And sadly we ran out of it a while back for development cost and plain rent billings. This is why we are doing this. We are a passionate small team with big aspirations towards this company's trajectory. If you want to give us a hand, we wont let you down! We will fine tune the game, add as many good ideas as we can and get it ready for a good, solid launch.
If you message us, WE WILL LISTEN!
While our Kickstarter campaign is live and we're polishing the game, we would like it if you could message us and elaborate an idea if you have something worth mentioning. Gameplay ideas, a skin idea for Hoodgirl (something not copyrighted), etc.
Kitten Dump has a special type of gameplay for which every addition must be well thought out and tested. This is why we can't predict exactly what feature will truly find its way into the release.
*We have in mind a page with a list of 15 to 20 "challenges" to complete. Trials that will get you a badge on completion, and a global reward for completing them all. The challenges difficulties would range from easy to very hard.
*A simple thing, but we still need to add this feature : a share button to send your high score to your buddies on the social medias.
*We want to go for an Ipad version
*And also, we're stretching a lot here, but if there is enough interest on the project, we wouldn't mind a Facebook PC version of the game. =)
It would be fun to actually see what you get with your codes, wouldn't it? That's what I thought. So here is a first look at Hoodgirl's bird pet! =)
And for those who got the Code #2 and more, this is the unique Hoodgirl Witch skin! =)
The second skin, for the Code #3 is not ready yet. ;)
Thank you so much for your interest in this project.
Risks and challenges
We want to be as open and true as possible here. During the making of a game, no decision can be swore on. There are many things that we want to add and adjust. Some of these things might not make it through the release because sometimes one decision can affect another. As we progress through the completion of the game, we will post here what we are working on, and add the next implementations on a list. And as ideas and decisions come up, we will add them here. =) Oh and of course, from what you saw and read, if you have any ideas or comments, feel free to contact us via Kickstarter bellow the profile picture up there.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
