This project is to raise funds to cover promotional costs of this surf music compilation CD
We did it!!! BUT...
We made our goal but we still need more. The goal was our very minimum that we can use, the more we raise, the more CDs we can send out. Please continue to contribute and sharing this project with all your friends.
We need your help. You and I know that surf music is hitting a new stride, dozens of new surf CDs have hit the market and there are probably more bands playing today around the world than ever before. We've decided to create this new compilation album - Brave New Surf - not to sell CDs, but as a promotional tool for sharing some of the very best current surf music with the uninitiated.
Taking on a project like this has been a labor of love for Ivan Pongracic of The Madeira/Space Cossacks and Sean Berry of Double Crown Records. Brian Neal of SG101 and others have pitched in as well to create a website in support of the album, bravenewsurf.com.Together we've put the money up front to print up 1000 of the CDs, 400 of which go to the bands, but we'd like to send out upwards of 200 or more to music reviewers, DJ's, podcasters, magazines, websites, independent record buyers etc... with the sole intent of promoting surf music as a genre.
The cost of packaging and mailing these promotional copies is where we need your help. A typical mailer is around $1.00 and then postage is $1.70 or so adding up to $500 or more. We'd love to get as many out as we can, but we're not unrealistic, some would be better than none, so we set what we think is a very attainable goal of $300 though we're really shooting for $500. If we are fortunate to go above that, any money that doesn't go to postage will go to advertising in magazines and websites.
Here's the list of bands and their songs on this CD, compiled by Ivan. If this is successful there'll be more comps to come with more great bands...

If you love this music, either as a player or a fan, or both (like me), then do yourself and your peers a favor and please contribute to our project. We really believe that surf music demands a wider audience, but it's not going to happen by itself. With your help though, we may just do it!
