About this project
There are a lot of important, amusing, and beautiful stories out there. You spend a decent amount of time watching and reading online, looking for interesting stuff. We know this, and we want you to see the best that’s out there, the videos that speak to your eyes, mind and heart.
So we are creating telegraph21 – a video website that features a new, daily, interactive, video package focused on amazing short length video. Our content is global. Our focus is on everything nonfiction. And we need your help to LAUNCH!
Media makers, filmmakers, and web video artists have already signed on and sent us their work to be featured. We have secured partnerships with media institutions, film festivals, and independent documentary studios. Our team is a mix of experienced producers, designers, curators, community organizers, and artists. We’re planning to constantly accept new content and promote new media. Now all we need is your help to raise funds for us to launch the site and support the initial beta phase.
Your pledge will be used to LAUNCH the site as planned this fall. All pledge amounts, even $5, will help us raise the bar on short nonfiction web video.

Where do the Kickstarter funds go?
The money will go directly to getting the site up and running, securing the necessary technological resources and services, collecting additional content and ensuring that we reach a global audience. Some of our specific expenses include:
$200 - pays for the t21 animated introduction for featured videos on our website
$250 - pays for additional animated pages such as credits and thanks yous to sponsors
$600 - pays for one month of video hosting
$1000 - pays for t21 to complete our legal registration process
What’s the point?
The media world is changing at a rate where quality content is sometimes hard to find. We want to help established and promising independent filmmakers, journalists and video artists share and promote their work on a site that becomes recognized as a go to venue for quality content.
Every video we show will be short: 3-10 minutes max. Anyone can submit videos of any length. We’ll choose selections and cut them down to fit our t21 time frame, making documentaries and other great videos quick and accessible.
We want to be the internet home for the most interesting, beautiful, and sometimes even overlooked non-fiction stories and art videos out there.
In 2006, Lauren produced a feature documentary, A Story of People in War and Peace. It won awards at film festivals and was broadcast on TV in the US and Europe, but it didn’t receive wide scale distribution beyond that. It felt like the story and those like it, needed a place to live on, to be viewed by people who weren't at the festivals or who had missed the broadcasts. telegraph21 will be that place.
How are you going to survive, make money?
Our plan is to make money by having companies sponsor our programming on our website and newsletter. Companies can pay different rates for different levels of support. For example, a company can pay $300 to have its name and logo on our website, video and enewsletter for one day or they can pay $1000 to have it the entire week, etc.
