The REVERBdance Echoes Tour is our very first out of town production, after 9 successful years in New York City, with your help, we're now taking the show on the road and heading up to Boston! We're very excited to expand our festival to another city and house our performances at the Boston University Dance Theater.
REVERBdance is a 501(C) (3) non-profit dance organization, home of the prestigious REVERBdance Festival. The mission of REVERBdance is to provide domestic and international contemporary dance artists an array of performance opportunities from our professionally produced and highly curated dance festival, to our in-studio performance showcases, in order to foster new choreographic voices in America. REVERBdance also uses its support to provide developmental access in the form of funded commissions, teaching opportunities, and community outreach programs.
REVERBdance will curate 10 national and international choreographers to present their work over two performances, December 11th and 12th. After each performance, the audience will vote on their top five favorite choreographers. After both performances, we'll tally up the votes and the winner of the Echoes Tour will be selected to participate in the 10th Anniversary REVERBDance Festival 2015 at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City where the choreographer will present their work next to nineteen other curated national and international choreographers with a chance to win The $1000 REVERBAward, and a Steps Beyond Commission for the Steps Repertory Ensemble. There will also be a Dancer Award where one dancer will receive one month of free classes generously donated by Steps On Broadway.
We're also very excited to announce an educational initiative as part of our tour. We will partner with local schools to bring upper-elementary school children on the day of our opening performance to watch a modified version of the concert, followed by a talk back with the choreographers and dancers. We're thrilled to share the positive influence of contemporary dance with children, and hope to foster a new generation of budding choreographers and arts advocates
One of the reasons why we're so excited to go out of town is because if this leg of the tour is successful, we have the vision to expand to other cities all over the country and potentially internationally as well! We will be bringing dance artists together from all over the world, creating an incredible incubator for the art form.
All of us at REVERBdance cannot thank you enough for your support. With your donation, you are helping us to pay for the theater, rental equipment, designers, transportation, marketing, and so much more. We really couldn't do this without you and we hope to see you at the shows!!!
Risks and challenges
We believe the biggest challenge that The REVERBdance Echoes Tour Boston will face is selling tickets to a new audience. REVERBdance has a spectacular following in New York City as we have been growing the organization here in New York going on ten years. In order to address this challenge we will be hiring a Boston local press agent, and will engage with potential co-producers to help get the word out. We will also try to target Boston choreographers by placing ads for the application in Boston dance studios, universities and conservatory programs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
