The first FREE compatible app of FlexR: RehabFit with its embedded exercise programs is crafted by licensed health professions based upon current clinical evidence and experience.
The difference between FlexR and other movement sensing devices such as the Wii Fit or Xbox Kinect is that FlexR detects muscle contraction/relaxation and strength.

FlexR's API is an open-source platform dedicated to one thing: the intersection of technology and the human body. It allows you to write and develop your own apps, giving you the tools to make an entirely new generation of programs.

As a practicing physical therapist, Ricky Ge has seen numerous patients suffer from neck, shoulder, and back pain. Ricky decided to develop a way for the general population to get fit and help them avoid injuries in a fun and interactive way. Using rehabilitation science, sports medicine, neuroscience and biofeedback theory, Ricky created the FlexR platform and its first application - RehabFit.
The technology behind FlexR has been used for a while by health and wellness professionals, but hasn’t been accessible to the masses. The machines they use are big, bulky, expensive, and require hours of training to use.
We’ve taken that technology and developed a platform that is portable, affordable, easy to use, and beautifully designed.

Risks and challenges
We are excited to finally bring FlexR and RehabFit to the real world! Our team has worked very hard to make this happen, but it would not be possible without our backers. We have taken into consideration that there are several successfully-funded Kickstarter projects that have failed to bring their product or service to the backers. However, we decided that the right thing to do was to put ourselves in the backer’s shoes. We strongly believe that there should be a strong trust between startups like ourselves and backers, so we acknowledge that such behavior hurts the mutual trust. We are fully aware of the potential risks and challenges associated with backing our campaign and we want to make sure our backers understand as well. Our delivery date is estimated based on our timeline, taking into account of unforeseen challenges. We want to be as frank and transparent as possible by updating the status and replying to comments and emails in a timely manner.
First and foremost, our fully functional prototypes and the experiences of our beta testers should assure most of the backers that we will soon bring FlexR to everyone. (The FlexR in the video is the prototype) It detects muscle activity precisely and works with the gaming App as well. With a request, you will be able to connect with the beta testers who are willing to share their experiences. An alternative is to ask the social network influencers who have also tested our prototype.
Based on the feedback we received from our beta testers, the funding we received from Kickstarter will be mainly used to upgrade the following components:
The RehabFit App: We will make the app more user-friendly and more versatile. Since the current app is already fully functional, we foresee very little risks in this procedure.
The Hardware: We are working on the light that is on the face of the device, which does not blink as frequent as our beta testers wanted. Some beta testers forgot to turn off the device and ended up using up all the battery without noticing. We are also working to enable the device function when it is being charged. We foresee moderate risks in this procedure.
Open Source: We have started this component and commit to make the experience as friendly as possible, even for those who have not learned about human anatomy. We also foresee minimal risks in this procedure. We are committed to finalize the API/SDK before the delivery date, but it could be delayed by unforeseeable challenges. The bottom line is that you will receive the high quality hardware, RehabFit App and electrodes on time to experience them, while the finalized API/SDK could be released a little later.
Certifications/Regulations: We are manufacturing fitness electronics, which means we will need to go through various tests, such as FCC and CE. Our timeline and expected shipping date are based on the comprehensive consideration of these standardized tests. The good news is that every component of the hardware is individually certified by CE. Although FlexR is considered a fitness focused electronic, it may overlap with some of the health space potentially being regulated by FDA.
