An awesome "Shop Local" themed mural will be painted on this 10' x 50' wall of the shop pictured below to benefit our artist and our amazing community. I, Jason Jones, will be painting the mural.
We just need your help to do it!
This gigantic wall belongs to a retail shop in Fayetteville, Arkansas called Four-Legged Bird. I co-own the shop along with my wife, Robin, and my brother-in-law, Keith.
Four-Legged Bird is a place for local/regional artists to get a chance to show off and sell their art. From handmade soaps to handmade jewelry and everything in between, we have a little bit of everything. The shop focuses on local handmade indie crafts where over fifty local, regional and national artist are represented. These artists are what makes painting the mural so important.
The mural will be a warm image with a positive message inviting people to come shop local at the Four-Legged Bird. We love our artists and want as many people as possible to come see and support all the talent represented in our shop.
In addition to helping these amazing artists, this mural will also encourage people to shop at other local businesses which will benefit our whole community.
We need you!!
The problem is that we need help to cover the basic expenses to paint this 10' x 50' mural. So we are asking for $2200 to cover the cost of paint, a sign permit fee from the city, and all the expenses associated with the rewards, Kickstarter video, and the Kickstarter/Amazon fees.
This mural will only be possible with your help!
About the Muralist
I love painting and creating art whenever I get the chance, and I've created over 100 murals in the Northwest Arkansas area. I also make & sell screen printed shirts and altered thrift store paintings in Four-Legged Bird.
If you want to check out more of my work, some is pictured below. Or you can visit my website - www.ArtistJasonJones.com
Any amount pledged will be incredibly appreciated, and we've devised some excellent rewards that we think you'll enjoy!
The rewards revolve around my altered thrift store paintings. What are altered thrift store paintings, you ask? Well, I find old vintage prints/paintings at thrift stores, and I hand paint new subject matter onto them, up-cycling them with a twist. Some of these paintings are shown below.
There are also rewards for unisex Four-Legged Bird t-shirts and custom original paintings!
You will be able to select which print you want, shirt size, etc, in a survey we send out after the project ends.

Risks and challenges
The basic costs of this mural project have been my largest obstacle. When I first came up with my design, I took it to the City of Fayetteville to get approval. I learned that my design would be considered to be a sign, and I would have to pay a sign permit fee based on the square footage of the mural. With this unexpected cost added to the cost for paint and supplies, I’ve realized I can‘t do this alone. With everyone’s support, I know that I can make this project happen.
If my Kickstarter is successfully funded, the only other perceived obstacle that I might encounter would be meeting deadlines for orders of original works of art. I set the timeline for originals in December just in time for the Holiday Season. This timeline will only be a problem if there is an unusually high volume of donors wanting original altered thrift store paintings. If this does occur, I may have to fill orders on a "first come, first serve" basis. Creating the originals takes time, but I’m confident that I can make it work and complete them in a timely manner. I love what I do, and I’m willing to put in the effort needed to get the job done.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
