Resin models, painting spotlight and some new sketches

Posted by Into the Unknown (Creator)

Hey, guys!

This one’s going to be short, but sweet. First of all, thanks for supporting our campaign. We really value your contributions, questions and suggestions, especially at this time of growth at Into the Unknown. Some of you were asking for photos of the resin prototypes. Here they are, fresh resin prototypes on a sprue to finished painted model.

We also wanted to show you something we’re working on right now. As you know, the first stretch goal is the Night Nymph. At Into the Unknown, the first step in process of miniatures creation is setting up the story. Who this person or creature is, why are they there, what do they want? Next, comes the free sketch stage, where we decide on the pose. This is how it looked like for the Night Nymph:

We wanted a really dynamic, yet ‘lithe’ pose to emphasizes the ephemeral nature of the Night Nymph. The hand reaches out to the stars and might just grab one! The whirls you see about her are in fact the tattered remains of cloak of pure night of the goddess Nyx.

So, tell us, what do you think?

@Angra: The answer isn’t as obvious as you might think ;) Oh, you meant the sculpt - we’ll talk about it.
@Raymond Wiggins: For a full Sailor Moon experience! ;)
@Marton Andras Makfalvi: Of course, working on it now :)

Guys, pls upload bigger pictures. We can see basicly nothing from the painted miniature.

I love the pose, might I suggest replacing the star with a crescent moon?

"She may be all of those things or none of them."

Guess we know that answer now :)

      By darker...I just mean sculpt-wise.

@Angra: Oh, this is just the first 'posing'. The Night Nymph wears the tattered remains of a former goddess, stylistically and storywise she is no less dark than Labyrinth Nymph. Fun fact: the thing Labyrinth has on her stomach is called 'the Pattern', and is something that spreads like a virus on the Isle of Crete...

I'd say go "darker". The thing that really stands out about my favorite sculpt (labyrinth), is the puzzle pieces on her stomach. You could make some of her body parts look like sand blowing away as day begins to return.
