“The First Step On CALAS” (CALAS) is a fantasy and imaginative table-top game inspired by Middle Ages rivals, catering for 2-4 players. CALAS is a mysterious and fanciful region with different topographies, including mountains, oceans, deserts and forests.
Aim of the game:
Be the ultimate leader who defeats the challengers and conquers CALAS and bring it eternal peace and prosperity. It will require skill, wisdom, strategy, craftiness, ingenuity and courage. CALAS is a mesmerizing game that appeals to those who like to think and strategize, yet able to breakout of reality and become the KING of CALAS!
About me and the elements in CALAS
I am a big fan of "Roll and Move" such as all those Monopoly-like boardgames, eg. Hotel Tycoon, The Game of Life and of course Monopoly. I also joined some Monopoly competitions.
While playing those games, I always think about if I have a power to change the dice, that would be awesome! And that's why I put "dice cards" in my game, and it turns out pretty fun.
Also, I found that all those "roll and move" boardgames do not have many choices. I was wondering: Why do I need to pay the rent? If you are not strong enough, I will not pay you the rent, I will bit you and even occupy your land. And that's how the battle system invented.
Then I created 32 Characters with different abilities to make the game more variety. Player can use their own combination to win the game. Some characters are created by modeling my favorite characters and person(from game or movie).
Each Character has its own special and unique skills that could lead to 3 different outcomes:
• Adding and improving dice results,
• gaining additional resources, and
• obtaining special powers.
Characters' skills accumulate during fights. The more characters you have, and if used wisely,will significantly improve the chance of winning a fight.
You can use your Strategy cards during both your turn or another player's turn. Applying the cards wisely can change the situation of the battlefield to put enemies in sufferings, or even turn the whole game upside down! Using these cards wisely is the key to winning the game!
Players can use their Dice cards and manipulate chance to their advantage. The card is used when the player is dissatisfied with the result of a dice roll Using the card strategically can change the outcome!
Pirate Adventurers: Both Resource and auxiliary strategies are in abundance despite the lack of military power.
Loyalist Troops: Military power, resources and auxiliary strategies are equally strong though not the strongest
Crescent Riders: Good at harming others to benefit themselves, thereby they are strong at battles
Spirit Warriors: They live for battle, they have extraordinary battling skills. (Champion warfare, honor fight and war of aggression)

The CALAS team will the very best to deliver the pre-order packages before Christmas 2018 as Christmas present to play with your family and friends, but this is not guaranteed!
CALAS is a strategic and network building game for 2 to 4 players. Each player controls the leader of a faction. To win the game, you must be the first person to reach 60 points.
How it is played
In CALAS, there are two phases: Action phase and Income phase.
TheAction phase consists of the following steps:
Roll 2 dice and add the numbers. The result is regarded as the amount of spaces that player must move on the building tiles.
There are three types of buildings:
1. Public buildings called “Guildhalls” -When a player enters a guildhall, the player will gain 2 Strategy cards. These cards enable the player to recruit characters, expand the faction; or Upgrade the cities.
2. Resource buildings: Villages and Mines - Occupied villages provides soldiers for the player’s team, where as Occupied mines enable the cities to be upgraded.
3. Cities -Occupied cities provides soldiers and bonus Honor points. Given the importance of cities, the aim of each leader is to seize more from others but also cautiously guards their own.
Once every player finishes their turn, the first player takes the dice, starts another round and repeats the turn order.
Once four Action rounds are finished, the current Action phase is over. The game then proceeds to the Income phase.

When a player enters the city occupied by an opponent, the player has the choice of choosing one of 3 types of battles with different consequences.
1. Champion warfare. If the attacker wins, they take soldiers from the city.
2. An Honor fight. The winner gains Honor points as well as eliminating soldiers of the opponent. 3. A war of aggression. If the attacker wins, they will occupy it.
In order to win, players will need to seek alliances, make deals and cooperate to gain advantage without displaying their weakness or game plan. One needs to know when to attack and when to retreat. Each game is different and this is what makes it unique, interesting and challenging. It is a game of chance and wit and decision making. These are the best parts of playing CALAS!
There are multiple levels to this game. After getting used to the Basic Mode, one can try the Equivalent Resource Mode, or even attempt the advanced Exploration Mode. Advancing each level will require more brainpower, wit and will bring more fun and intrigue!
Risks and challenges
We have successfully completed our “pilot testing” over a period of 16 months. We invited a multitude of board-game enthusiasts and professional players. The CALAS team received both positive and constructive feedback from them. The team has actioned on them and have consistently made improvements. We are now confident in the concept, design, charm and allurement of the board game. At this point, we are proud to say that the artwork of the basic game is about 90% completed.
During the development phase, the team has been working very closer with our manufacturers, and we have already produced the prototype of those plastic components, which we believe are at commercial quality.
We are new to Kickstarter, but we are fully aware of the challenges and obstacles ahead. We are passionate about our concept and confident that we can tap into the huge board-game international market.
