Caribbean Conquest is a skill-based MMORPG set during the Age of Sail. Its focus is on balanced and replayable gameplay, at a slightly faster pace yet with more strategic depth than current Age of Sail games on the market. If you are looking for a pirate/naval themed MMO with ample theory crafting and absolutely no Pay2Win/Grind2Win, this might just be exactly what you're looking for.
Caribbean Conquest is a rewarding game for tenacious captains to test their mettle against one another atop the beautiful high seas of the Caribbean. Whether you want to hunt shipping as a privateer, engage in fleet battles against up to 48 enemy players or build a trading monopoly to generate riches, this game is for you. With your help, we will be able to develop our playable ship combat alpha into a fully fleshed out MMORPG experience.
If you are interested in exactly how we plan to do this, we advise you check out the FAQ's tab of www.CaribbeanConquest.com for detailed information on each feature, the development cycle and both current and upcoming game content. If you have a question this page doesn't address, please don't hesitate to let us know using the Contact tab on-site.
Furthermore, the one thing you can do more important than back us, is to like us on Facebook and help spread the word! www.facebook.com/CaribbeanConquest/
Backing this project at Ordinary Seaman or above gets you a copy of the full game on launch.
The alpha is currently playable on both Windows and Mac. The final game will maintain this cross-platform compatibility. Further platforms will be supported if requested by the community.
Old Community-Made Gameplay Footage
This footage was taken by one of our pre-alpha testers in November 2016. The build this was filmed on is now significantly outdated, but the gameplay mechanics are functionally still the same. This community made video perfectly showcases the spirit of Caribbean Conquest. Of course, all copyrighted material contained within is the property of its respective owner(s).
You can join a server, alone or with friends and play. These features will have expanded slightly by the termination of the campaign:
- Fully fledged ship combat module.
- 11 ships ranging from light frigates to first rate ships of the line.
- 39 outfittings enabling you to specialise any vessel to any purpose you deem fit.
- 50 skills enabling you a unique playstyle in any situation. Play the way you want to play.
- Two asymmetrical classes specialising in different aspects of combat.
- Balanced and replayable PvP gameplay.
Further ships, skills and classes will be added throughout the Kickstarter campaign and the duration of the game's development. Boarding combat will be available to playtest during the end of the Alpha period. The expansive open world modelled after real Caribbean topography will go live around the Beta phase. This will also include the basic economy model.

The below pie chart represents what we believe will be a fair estimate of how £25,000 would be used in the development process of our game. The game development funds will be primarily used to fund the addition of a full time coder to our team. As a part-time Indie studio we are sorely lacking full time staff and these funds would therefore speed up game development dramatically. Any funds raised above this amount would be appropriated accordingly, enabling additional staff to work on the project.
The below timeline represents what we believe is a fair estimate of when each of the features should be implimented. There's going to be a little variation on this, but it should be reasonably representative of the end result.
Instant access to the ship combat.
Toward the end of the Alpha, access will become available to a standalone boarding combat module for playtesting.
Your feedback will shape the core mechanics of the game.
If you buy into the Alpha, your access continues throughout the Beta.
You will later this year gain access to the game when the boarding modules are implemented and the economy modules are in their infancy. Our hope is the influx of beta players enables us to test certain larger features including 48v48 player fleet battles. The beta will run until we squash all the bugs and the community is content with the mechanics and volume of content.
We will update you at least monthly with what we're doing. That may include anything from features we're whiteboarding to modelling, to release dates.
Backer Exclusive Pennants/Streamers
You choose which slots you want to put them. This determines which mast they spawn on.

Ship skins function on a two part system. Patterns and Colours. The pattern is the distribution of the colours and the colours are... colours. A unique ship skin enables you to select a pattern and its colouration for a ship of your choosing and save it, for free. You will retain this forever.
The default skins are nation-specific in order to give each nation its own distinct flavour in large group fights. Of course, your custom skins will be as unique as you want them to be.
This stuff will be going in with the boarding mechanics since that's the point where you will get an actual physical character you can walk around with. This is a few months off since we want to polish up the ship combat and add a bunch of new boats in first before we deliver the boarding module. Therefore, you will receive this around the time the beta is released. The items of clothing will be unique to your nation. There will also be pirate versions for each. If your character chooses to switch nation, your items will be substituted accordingly.
Your character's name will have a golden outline. This will be visible throughout all elements of play where your name is visible; ship combat, boarding, etc.
Risks and challenges
Distributing the final product via Steam Greenlight. To do this, we will require a certain number of votes on Steam and therefore we require a small but active community as a minimum in order to achieve the best means of distribution. In the event this fails, we would seek alternative distribution via our site or other download systems. In order to mitigate this possibility, we are running a Kickstarter campaign to raise both funds and broaden our community.
Possible delays due to unforeseen circumstances.
Hardware or software faults which may temporarily impede servers/services.
