The 3DCone is a stereoscopic add-on for the iPhone 4 to make 3D pictures and videos! Just snap it on and start shooting.

Also, a bayonet system may even be over-thinking it. Could be as simple as a slide-and-lock (tongue & groove) system, similar to the eye piece cover on a DSLR.
Can't wait to get this! I agree with Christoper that a bayonet system would be preferable in order to keep it easier to future-proof. Not sure how difficult that would be to integrate into the current design, but it may be well worth your while, since you could then also possibly expand to other popular phones simply by making the case for it. Should instantly bring in a much larger crowd to fund this project.
@Juan - Hi, and thanks for your comments.
Shooting is always done with the iPhone held at landscape, but the way this works is we use the iPhone's camera to shoot two separate images of the same objects. So basically, we're shooting two portrait images side-by-side, which are then used to compose a single portrait image (or video) in 3D.
Regarding your TV - some TV's use flipped formats (i.e. the left image on the right and the right on the left). Try flipping the images in the youtube controls. Did you manage to properly view any other youtube 3D videos?
I was watching some of your YouTube videos in my Samsung 3D led but they don't seem to look right :s
Nvm the 1st question I found it :p
2 more questions that would really help!
1. Can you post a link to your YouTube channel so we can watch 3D video made by the iPhone with cone
2. I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but can you shot videos in landscape too?
Looks like fun, good luck. A comment on the resolution might increase funding.
Black for me too. If the cone is made to be removable from the case via a bayonet type fitting then all that is needed is to offer a new case for the next gen iPhone to allow it to be transferable.
Please make an option for the Iphone 5 (or the new iphone.. whatever it's going to be called).. by the time this comes to production i won't have my iphone 4s anymore.
@Justin - Great to hear you've been waiting for us :). Thanks for the feedback!
@Thomas, @Juan - That's a great question about Apple TV and Airplay. Not sure about how Apple TV/Airplay will handle different file formats. If it's possible, we'll do our best to enable it as soon as possible on the app.
Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback!
Regarding color (@Fred, @Juan, @Thomas) - black will definitely be an option.
Regarding 3DTV (@Fred, @Juan) - In essence, this is simply a matter of converting to the right file format. Can't commit right now to any specific TV models, but we'll do an effort to support as many formats as possible. Short answer - you'll almost certainly be covered.
i would like a black one too ;)
would it be possible to share them via apple tv on my samsung 3d tv?
Like with all of my phone attachments, I'll have to cut off and sand down the edges so I can use it without having to remove my phone from the case. Basically turn it into a flat plate that I pinch with a binder clip to hold it in place. Look forward to using it. Hope it gets funded
FINALLY! I've seen attachments like this for cameras, and I've been looking into the fujifilm 3D camera - but I've really always wanted a product like this. I take side by side 3D all the time, and i have to rush to get the shot with as little disruption in the background as possible. Thank you for eliminating my primary reason for wanting a 3D printer.
i have 3 comments
1. Like Fred i would like a Black one, i prefer not to cause too much attention to the cone sticking out of my iphone :p.
2. will videos be able to export or airplay to my Samsung 3D tv to watch the videos in 3D
3. im in the early bird package, is there any way we can get this sooner? really looking forward to this, if you need people to test it and send any comments back.
Are you going to make a plain black one? I don't know all the ins and outs with the workings 3D but will I have the ability to shot a video with the 3Dcone and play it back on my LG 3D TV with the polarized glasses?
