SnoopWall is an easy-to-use program for your smartphone or tablet that will block cyber intrusion. Alerting users in real-time of dangerous applications and programs, SnoopWall secures high-risk data ports and gives you exclusive control of your device.

Cybercriminals have figured out clever ways to hack into their victims' devices. They gain access to personal information by hacking into these devices and data ports:
You mean, I can be spied on through my webcam, and wouldn't even know it?
Cybercriminals can also listen in to your phone calls and take screenshots of your browser, capturing all kinds of valuable personal information.
But that's why I have antivirus software to protect me..right?
Well, not exactly. Even the best antivirus software only catches 80% of malware. On top of that, it can only detect known threats─ meaning that you and your personal information are vulnerable to every unknown threat.
Antivirus software can't block remote access to your device either, putting you at risk for privacy invasion, identity theft, and financial loss.
I see...and what about my firewall?
Firewalls also have limited protection capabilities. Once you click that you trust an infected program or application, it's too late.
SnoopWall will protect your high-risk data ports so that cybercriminals can't spy, snoop, or steal.

As a start-up, our small team has limited resources and funds to propel SnoopWall into the cyber security spotlight. Your support kick starts our project in a few ways:
Product Development: We're working hard to get SnoopWall on every platform─but to prevent any delays and get to the finish line quicker, we need your help.
User Feedback: Your feedback means a lot to us and will be used to make tweaks to the program.
Education and Spreading the Word: We've been so focused on developing the product, that we don't have much of an advertising budget. We need you to educate your friends and family on the limitations of antivirus software, and share your new-found love for SnoopWall!
I understand the concept. What are the more technical details?
Antivirus solutions focus on files, payload, and signatures of malware. Firewalls focus on traffic patterns, network ports, looking at packets and payload.
We chose a completely unique and patent-pending approach to helping augment these older technologies and solve the new problem of advanced persistent threats (APTs) and zero-day (0day) malware.
SnoopWall can keep up with today and next-generation malware because we don't focus on the files, the file signatures, the packets or the payload. We focus on all the data-leakage hardware device ports that are being 'tapped' into by malware.
Technically speaking, SnoopWall takes control of all of the following hardware device ports and related storage areas:
Keyboard, USB, Infrared, Bluetooth, Near Field Communication (NFC), Wireless, LAN, Microphone, Webcam, Flash/Storage, Phone, SMS and Contacts
By controlling all of these data-leakage areas, SnoopWall helps end-users manage their devices and safeguard their data.
Example: Let's say there's an app called "CameraFun" that allows you to take cool pictures and make photo collages. Intrigued by the positive ratings, you purchase the app on the Play store.
If "CameraFun" is just meant for taking pictures, should it have internet access over Wireless or LAN? Should it have access to your microphone? Should it be allowed to read your contact lists? Of course not! It should only have access to your webcam.
With SnoopWall, if you were to download "CameraFun," you would get a warning that the app wanted to access more than just your camera.
You'd then have the option to either: A) Stop the app from accessing any of your data-ports or, B) Allow "CameraFun" to access just your webcam
Giving "CameraFun" access to only your webcam would still allow you to take fun photos--the app just wouldn't be able to eavesdrop on your communications through your microphone or share your contacts list with a third party.
SnoopWall's key focus is to manage these high risk device-ports and related storage areas while also informing you of which applications are trying to gain access to them. In addition, it will block them from running completely or only block them from gaining access to those device ports and storage areas you don't want them to have access to.

Risks and challenges
The good news is that there's never been a product like SnoopWall. The bad news is that...well, there's never been a product like SnoopWall.
SnoopWall is a new concept in cyber security, so the biggest challenge we're faced with is explaining to folks why their antivirus software and firewalls aren't enough. With your feedback and encouragement, we'll be better equipped to tone down the "geek speak" and explain the concept to everyone.
We don't anticipate any bumps in the road for our Android and Windows version (especially with your help!), but we have a plan in place in case we do. Our primary goal is to deliver the best product for our early Kickstarter supporters, and with success, continue to develop SnoopWall on other platforms.
