Ancient cookies, the perfect gift for everyone!
We are on a mission to make cookies exciting again!
Let's face it, who doesn't LOVE a COOKIE? Honestly, almost everyone does, yet the cookie market is inundated with cookies that have had a facelift, incorporated some new innovative ingredients, have added more fiber, new taste and new flavors galore. We know this because we are a tiny observer in the crowded cookies market! Yet, this overabundance of cookie offerings has caused many consumers to have mixed feelings about indulging in bakery products, especially cookies!
Ancient Baking, on the other hand, is a very different kind of bakery in that we encourage you to indulge in our re-imagined plant-based version of your favorite bakery products, COOKIES, with the added benefit of knowing that you've made a conscious choice to have your snacking experience support a local farm community somewhere in the world. Thus, The Ancient Bakers creates globally sustainable bakery products!
This is an exciting new way to snack that mutually benefits everyone because all of our products are lovingly made with a host of Fair Trade Ingredients that include; fiber rich, ancient whole grains, organic sugars, buttery essential fats, hand harvested, mineral rich salts, aromatic and edible wild craft herbs, flavors, and spices. Each ingredient we use is produced by a sustainable farming community that your purchase helps to support. How Exciting!

Who Dosen't Love an Oatmeal Cookie!?
This premium, plant-based cookie is soft, chewy and fragrant because we use rosehips, wild blueberries, and pink roses too...shelf life, 2 weeks.
What's in these cookies?
Very important to us is that we source, purchase, and use ancient ingredients that are sourced domestically, from around the world & have fair trade agreements in place with indigenous local farming communities. A few of our well researched, hand selected ingredients are listed below.
Sprouted wheat flour - the process of germination breaks down starches in grains into simple sugars for easier digestion while raising the flour's nutrient content. Good source of b-vitamins, fiber and iron.
In my opinion, this is one of the best cinnamons on earth! Please click on the link below to watch the video on how our purchase of this special cinnamon is helping to sustain this indigenous farm community. http://www.frontiercoop.com/

Why Scale up Matters
Currently, we are ready to begin sales to local and regional food service accounts who would like to order volume product on a monthly basis. Our production capacity is a few thousand units a month which limits the customers we can serve.
Successful scale up will help the company to achieve large scale production levels sufficient to sell to our current markets and expand to include food service markets that include: health care settings, corporate dining and school lunch programs.
Taking our proprietary formula from a humble 2 -5 pounds of raw dough into a commercially viable formula of 200 pounds or more, we must retain professional bakery scientist to do the job correctly. We have already secured a scale up proposal from The American Institute of Baking International, located in Manhattan Kansas. https://www.aibonline.org/researchandtechnical/pilotplant/prodscaleupcookie.html
A successful Kickstarter Campaign will allow us to finally turn this, long overdue, corner. Scaling up our specialty ancient oatmeal cookie for mass production is the most important project The Ancient Bakers has embarked on to date.
The money raised will also be used to create a new package design that will help us to build brand awareness and position The Ancient Bakers as a health & wellness brand in the food service industry. The goal being to create a recognizable brand associated with wellness that can be included in a variety of meals in any food service settings. A custom, refrigerated carton will also have to be developed for frozen dough pucks. See American Institute of Baking Partner, PlasPack, http://www.plaspack.com/home.html to learn more.

My son suffered from severe food allergies and acute malnutrition 13 years ago. He served as the catalyst behind the launch of an urgent food research project that became premium bakery products and a new specialty baking company, The Ancient Bakers.
Please help us reach our goal
Over a decade of research & product development efforts have been invested in creating these premium bakery products. Now it is time to ask you if you'd like to see these products made available on a grand scale in the markets you frequent.
Our Kickstarter goal of $50,000, added to our own investment, will cover our first few months of sales to our present markets and new food service accounts. Please think about people you love of all ages who would benefit from eating these types of natural products, and consider supporting our new snacking experience, the sustainable bakery product movement.
The Ancient Bakers thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to learn more about this special project.
Thank you in advance for your generous support!
In the spirit of good health...
Warmly, The Ancient Bakers

Risks and challenges
RISKS & CHALLENGES
Raising capital for any creative projects is an ongoing process that is inherently fraught with risks & challenges.
Historically women of color have not had sufficient capital, the right sponsors or mentors needed to foster successful projects or businesses.
Currently minority-owned businesses are the fastest growing business sector of the U.S. economy, however, the current economic crisis presents heightened funding challenges for the projects we must execute to grow.
To learn more about the unique funding challenges The Ancient Bakers face, please read this article to learn more - http://www.mbda.gov/node/384
For more than eight years Vision's Sown - The Ancient Bakers been stuck at this stage because raising capital for this transition project has been a huge barrier.
Unfortunately, we do not have access to micro loans, bank loans or equity financing. For us Kickstarter is similar to African stokvels - small informal savings societies- found in traditional communities; used to fund important community projects. Therefore, we chose to launch this critical project to the Kickstarter Community to ask for our actual & virtual community's support.
Bench Formulas - small recipes - made at home or in an experimental kitchen lab, usually yield 3 dozen or less servings. These recipes are far from full scale commercial formulas that yield thousands to hundreds of thousands of food items. Scale-up may require the formulas to change.
Not finding the right contract manufacturer is a huge risk. If the contract manufacturer is too far away from our first customer, shipping could greatly increase the final price.
A contract manufacturer could compromise our proprietary formulas, this is always a risk. An IP attorney is advising The Ancient Bakers through this process.
Exceeding the wholesale price target, could cause us to have to renegotiate our final purchase agreements.
We have letters of intent on the table to deliver the finished product in meals in early 2014, delays could cause us to miss this first delivery date.
To mitigate all of these risks, we have put together an incredible team of partners, however, we still need your support to bring the project to fruition.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
