About

Game Summary

UP is a competitive card game for up to 4 players that is incredibly easy to learn, yet deep enough to allow for strategy and mind games. The game is based on color and number matching while statistics and probability can influence the decision making.

Players match colors and numbers to build up the tower in such a way that a player is able to place two of their own cards next to each other at the top.

Games are quick, addicting, and incredibly easy to learn. Multiple rounds can be played in a sitting. Great for busting out when you have a short amount of time. I came up with UP while looking for an icebreaker to use in a classroom and it worked great!

Great ways to use UP :

  • Icebreakers
  • ELL Classes
  • Language Learners
  • Teaching and Practicing Probability
  • Competitively
  • Family Events
  • When you only have a small amount of time, but want to play a card game.

How to play UP :

Each player has a deck of 23 cards of the same color. Every player has two sets of numbers 0 – 10 and 3 chaos cards that have the ability to clear cards from the table in various ways. Chaos cards are optional and for a simpler game or a more competitive game, they can be removed from the deck.

  • After shuffling all decks, players flip the top cards over and place them in a row with gaps in between. This is the start of the first row.
  • Players will draw four cards and always keep four cards in their hand.
  • A player plays one card per turn.
  • A card can be played above another card of the same color.
  • A card can be played to the side or above another card of the same number.
  • A card cannot be played to the side if nothing is directly below it.
  • Instead of playing a card, a player may discard it so the table can see it and draw a new one.
  • TO WIN: A player places two of their cards next to each other in the fifth row or higher.

Purple wins the game! Red has a card higher in the 6th row, but did not have another red card next to it to win.

What's in the box?

UP contains 92 cards (standard bridge card size of 2.5 x 3.5 inches). Each pack contains four colored decks (purple, red, black, and green). Each deck contains 23 cards. They have two sets of numbered cards from 0-9 and three chaos cards. Chaos cards add variety to play, allowing players to clear an entire column, row, or create a new column.

Along with the game cards, the box will include a rule reference card and a booklet with game variants and other ways to use the cards.

Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to look at this project! I appreciate you even considering helping make a dream come true. I am very proud of this game and have full faith in it.

Risks and challenges

I already have a designer lined up to help improve the cards look. As soon as the project gets funded, the designer can get started. Since all the dimensions are figured out and the templates are built, this process shouldn't take more than two weeks.

The printer I'm using I have used in the past. I am extremely happy with their process, speed, and results. I don't foresee having an issue or them causing any kind of drastic delays.

I've spent a lot of time looking into fees and taxes and have figured them into the shipping and production costs. I've found a price point and production amount where I can produce this game without going into debt.

This game is pretty much ready to go. Once the kickstarter is over, I'll be able to send the files to the printer almost immediately.
