It wasn’t that long ago that our dog Chi had to wear an animal cone almost every day for a year while she struggled with a food allergy. The regular cone is white and became visibly dirty and for both Chi and ourselves it was rather shameful seeing her mope around and taking her out for walks. Combined with the health ailment and Chi shying away from the cone whenever we approached her with it we decided to do something about it.
Through research and several iterations of design Happy Cone is a soft plastic cone and unlike a regular white cone that surrounds the head of your furry friend we created our first design the Daisy Cone, which was produced as a sample for our dog Chi to wear. This garnered a lot of attention--instead of people seeing her and staying away from our dog while on walks or when people visited our home, Happy Cone brought laughter, smiles and people felt prompted to pet our dog Chi with the cone on! The Happy Cone for Chi became associated as good thing vs. something to shy away from.
Happy Cone is shipped flat and to assemble you simply roll, fold and
slip on your favourite collar into the loops and place it around your
furry friend! Remember these are for cats, dogs, rabbits too… and other critters both big and small.
It's a simple elegant designed cone for your furry friend perhaps after surgery or prevention from licking themselves while they heal from whatever ails them. As with any health matters how you tackle it matters most and Happy Cone adds some humor and positivity to a situation that is otherwise difficult.
We wish you and your furry friend a speedy recovery and hope that Happy Cone offsets the time with some fashionable humor and positive light.

How to Assemble
Production & Fulfillment
In order to get our
project started we need to get the funding to produce 500 cones in each
size. We have already selected out our printer and will be using the
same printer which was used to create the prototype. Once the product it
will be shipped to each of your homes. We have an estimate printing date of January 15th 2014. The process will take 15-30 days as we will be in cue with other projects. We have set a delivery time for March 2014 as we would like to be conservative with dates.
If our project is a
success we will be creating a second design. We’ve given the option for
you to vote for the next design if you pledge $50. You can vote using
one of the sketches above or by suggesting a design of your own.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge will be timing the order should the demand become great.
We have also created and received several prototype, this has made us confident in our ability to ensure quality of the product --having gone through that process already before going into production. This will greatly increase the time to delivery since we have already prepared all the steps for the first production run.
Along the way there are always unexpected obstacles but by going through the process of having the first prototype created we feel the first small run will be the next step in the process and we feel confident we will be able to overcome anything that comes our way.
