Have a question?
I want to make a couple of things clear, I think some people are or were worried and/or confused about me involved on several kickstarters. Check my kickstarter profile and you will see that I have only been involved in two kickstarters, and they were mine. They were conceived, produced and with the help from all my backers, published by me. Sometimes my name gets used even without my permission, or people use my art, second rights, which they should pay me for...all of this is very difficult for me to keep up with. I currently am NOT working with Ken Whitman on any of my projects and have not worked with him for over a year. Sometimes he takes advantage of our friendship or persuades me to use my name as part of his product lines that I am not otherwise involved in. Also I have never authorized the use of my mailing lists for any purpose whatsoever! This is going to stop, I never want to be a "Kickstarter whore". From the very start I have only wanted to do three Kickstarters, two big artbooks (color and black & white) and this Snarfquest new adverture book. I may have future Kickstarters, but I do not see anything in the near future. Maybe I will do another in a few of years. I do want to work on new art and who knows where it may take me.
The other kickstarter Snarfquest book was a separate license deal with Imagined Publishing, which was supposed to run a year before this Kickstarter started. Imagined Publishing is a good company and the owner has been a Snarfquest fan since he was a child. They are making a quality product, and we were thinking about using his re-mastered thirtieth anniversary edition, but I decided I am not using those books for any of my fulfillments. My original Snarfquest book, currently on my website, that I have been selling for many years, had some mistakes, a couple of pages out of order plus one page missing...I didn't catch this until just a couple of years ago. They were mistakes that you could read through without really realizing it....but once I found them, they really bothered me. These mistakes have been corrected, including the missing page, in the combined books we are printing now. Everything in this Kickstarter is from ME, published by me, printed by a professional high quality printer... not from any other kickstarter. All is newly published. The Snarfquest books that I have been selling over the past few years will soon be removed from my website and replaced with my new books.
Again, I want to thank everyone for their support and patience, I only want to bring you the best possible quality product, and sometimes it takes more time and searching (plus a few mistakes) than I anticipated.
I guess I stand corrected. Fair enough.
So if past examples of Kickstarters gone wrong are anything to go by, this might be the case where pallets of books have arrived at the warehouse and the creators are gathered around a laptop, silently regarding a cost estimate for shipping them to the backers that works out to more than the entire value of the original campaign. Just going with my intuition as to what's amiss here.
So...want to ship our books to us or not?
What's the status on the shipping? I just recently updated my address a few days ago. Please let me know.
Here is a KS that ended last weekend with Larry still working with Ken Whitman.
"Pencil Dice by d20 Entertainment — Kickstarter"
"Limited Edition Elmore Leather Pencil Bag, Signed in gold paint by Larry Elmore himself. Limited to 50!!! Will hold up to 12 Pencil Dice, and smells like leather... because it's leather. $40 each."
I did not add $30 for an all in one book to be turned into a bait and switch by Larry to help fund a separate KS.
Los Angeles, CA - here is a link to what it will look like
Los Angeles, CA - the first Snarfquest book is available for $25 on Larry's website. Why would it have a new cover when he still has dead stock?
Does the first Snarfquest book that is being/has been created separately have a different cover or anything to it that makes it more special for this kickstarter?
Nevermind I found it. If anyone else forgot too, of you go to the main page for this KS, scroll down to the level you pledged on the right, and it has a survey response link.
I saw update telling us to verify our address, but I can't find a backer form where it asked? I know the KS profile doesn't keep addresses, so how do we see what address they have?
Any word on when they'll be shipping out?
For those that paid $30 for the all in one, ponder this
I did not pay to have two separate books. I do not need a second copy of the first snarfquest book that is bound separately. Please refund me the $30.
Are we there yet!!?? ;)

it's almost December and still no news???
Any new news? We're heading up to the end of October and the last update was a month ago. Thanks!
I got my miniatures in yesterday too. Can't wait for the books now!!
I received mine and they look great. Thank you.
Girlfriend picked up our vacation mail from the post office today. I was expecting minis while we were out of town, just not the Snarfquest ones. Opened at the supper table, and my son ID'd every one, and he hasn't read the first collection in a year or so!
Yes, I should update everyone on how things are going. I have five more pages to ink and then we start coloring ....coloring should take about three weeks of work. Gary Triplett is doing base colors for me at the present, that will speed things up trememdously. My son, Jeremy Elmore is also doing some color for me, he has done it in the past and I couldn't tell my coloring from his. I talked to Iron Wind at Gencon and they are ready to do the miniatures. So everything is coming along, just not as fast as I wanted. Writing, penciling and inking the pages went slower than I expected. One reason for going slow, I get too many interruptions daily, not only people coming to visit me, and the studio, but also many phone calls. Also I will be attending DragonCon in about a week, and also a large convention is Salt Lake City the week after Dragoncon, then a couple of weeks later, Illuxicon in Pa. When these cons were booked, I thought this Snarfquest would be at the printer by now....I have been putting in twelve hour days constantly the past few months, if I am at home, and not at a convention, then I am working on Snarfquest. The story is coming out good and I am NOT cutting any corners either in story or art...I am doing it all the old fashion way----work work work....I think you guys will like it when it is done.
Hey, haven't had any news for a while. Is everything still pointing to a September delivery?
@Larry don't get sick!! We need to know what happens!!
Oh hi @Experiencing ... Fancy meeting you here.
Michael Burrage - I chose the all in one hardcover signed and number $50 + $30 = $80. I am not interested in two books or a softcover version.
I have been to three conventions and had the flu within the past six weeks...finally things are getting back to normal ( kind of) . Perhaps I can respond to comments better. It is so hard to KEEP UP... I am over thousand emails behind!!!!
Any idea when you will respond to private messages?
It has been quite some time since I tried to get in contact.
I also would prefer the non-remastered material in the combined hardcover. If I want the remastered version, the other kickstarter project is available.
@Michael Burrage - I don't know about other people, but I suspect I'm not going to be happy with any of the solutions as I wanted/want a combined hardcover with the non-remastered material in it. That appears to off the table now. :(
Michael, he may be doing just that...I really do not know. But he and I are trying to do the best for the consumers that we can, without loosing money, that kind of defeats the purpose :) He is a very busy person and has gone to two or three conventions during the past month and I am in the middle of going to three cons all within a four week period, plus I had the flu and am still trying to get over it....sooooo, life has been a little hectic for me...and I am also trying to write the rest of the story for my new Snarfquest!!!
@Larry Elmore – You offered 500 hardback copies, 390 of them sold.
Out of curiosity, how many of the 390 chose the expansion add-on ?
@Larry Elmore –
If the softbound backers of this Kickstarter ("Snarf-NA")—who chose to add the original book expansion—get the remastered book from the other Kickstarter ("Snarf-30") then I don't think they will have any complaints.
For the hardback backers of "Snarf-NA"—who chose to add the original book expansion—I would consider two scenarios:
1) If "Snarf-30" makes it to their hardback goal, than include the "limited numbered edition" of "Snarf-30" as a second volume, and try to make the two hardbacks match in size and design so they look like a set.
2) If "Snarf-30" does NOT make it to their hardback goal, then add the remastered pages to the "Snarf-NA" hardback. Basically what you were offering to do already, but remastered.
@Steven - Thank you. A little disappointed now that the complete version from this KS has 224 pages where as the remastered version has 230 pages. I backed this one and will skip the remastered version though.
I will be starting on all the new pages within a week or so...I am looking forward to the project, I always loved doing Snarfquest. When I get started, I want to do it all nonstop if possible, I know I do have a con or two I must attend, other than that, I want to stay busy on the new story.
The Knights of the Dinner Table live-action movie Kickstarter is looking like it won't make its funding goal.
I love your covers for the comics, and more than a few of them (I hope) will be in the cover art book they have available as an add-on. Any chance you could give them a shout out? I think this would give them a welcome boost and expose some of your fans who don't know about KODT to a wonderful set of characters.
Rock on Larry!
Looking forward to reading these new adventures.
Is there any way to add funds to my pledge? I wanted to add the expansion to my hardcover book.
Just got the survey! Thanks!
Has anyone received the survey yet?
I want to thank everyone for making this Kickstarter campaign a successful one. I was very exxcited to see that we greatly surpassed our goal. We set our goal at $16,000 and knew we actually had to make more than that to be able to complete our goals. I had faith in you guys and we did it. Again, I want to thank everyone for all their help!!!
Oh! The game's at 45k! I musta missed when it changed, or I misremembered the goal. YAY! =D Grats!
Aww man, only 300 short =(
Has the survey been released yet? I just want to make sure I haven't missed it due to spam blockers or anything like that.
Sounds like something went wrong when you tried to raise your pledge. Did you get a confirmation email about the pledge change?
Kickstarter only took $60 from me instead of $90 for the B&W total snarf upgrade. Need to fix that to.
Hmmmm...for some reason my pledge is wrong. It should have been 105. and it only took 75. How do I fix this?
