About

Let me start off by saying this is not the most professional Kickstarter page you'll ever see. I want this to come from me, so it may not be professional but it will come straight from me and every bit is true. As of right now it is only me requiring this equipment for my own career. Though I have a small group of friends who are all looking into game design, and every bit of this equipment can double its use in that. As of right now I can't give many details into that development but make no mistake that this is not any kind of scam.

Reward info: The reason they are marked for August is that I do not gain the money until two weeks after this kickstarter has ended. It will end at the END of September, meaning I won't get the money until sometime in August, and there's no way for me to get you anything without the money.

Now that the disclaimer is out of the way...

I'd like to focus on the doubling of usage for a minute. As I stated I have a group of friends who are all looking into game design, now we aren't a bunch of children looking to make a game company, we all have at least 2 years of experience in different fields. Me for example went for networking systems and electronics, I can repair and use a computer better than most. Some of my friends went in for software (making their own programs) And others went into animation. Together we make a fairly strong team and you'll get more information as that gets bigger.

Now, back to what I was saying...

I want to do what I love, I want to be known as someone who can make others smile and enjoy their time at home as many on YouTube have done for me. If I make no money of this, none at all, that’s completely fine, the only thing I'm risking here is the time to make this page. However if only one person believes in me, and I only make 10 dollars; well I can't go very far. It's all up to you guys and what you think could happen.

Now you've seen people on YouTube, (Because I'm not sure if I'm allowed I won't name anyone) The people making money, a lot of money just for doing what they love, that's what I'm hoping to be in the upcoming months. As it stands I have a decent computer, amateur recording software and minimal knowledge on video editing. But that's only because I just don't have the time to learn these things, or the money to get the software needed to have a quality video. With even a little more time on my plate I can learn anything I need to make the videos everyone would love to see. Hell I thought myself HTML in about 2 days before I had a job, I can't do anything fancy but I can make a website.

I am a perfectionist.

I have made 2 or 3 videos in the past, all related to the game 'Minecraft' they were poorly done, and frankly straight annoying to me. I took them down just a month after they were uploaded strictly because I was tired of looking at my own work. They were lengthy, unorganized, and again. Annoying. I mention this because I'd like to point out that when I make a video, I'd MUCH rather it take a little longer to get published, then to be some sloppy piece of crap.

I'll get more onto that later, but for now I'd like to address the big question here. Which is "Why in the world do you need three thousand dollars Devan??" Well I don't, I technically would LIKE to have more, but as it stands three thousand was simply a goal to reach. If I manage to get three thousand dollars, every penny of it would be going to a proper computer, because my current one simply can't handle everything. It's decent enough to run standard to low-high end games. (For example I can run starwars online, but only on LOW graphic settings and it still lags a bit.) Which isn't great, now when I was getting into video making before (Before I had a job) I quickly realized my computer couldn't do it. I'd have 3 or 4 major programs up at a time, just to get one video made. My videos greatly suffered because what should have taken me 30 minutes, was taking me over 3 hours because I had to it bit by bit.

F.A.Q.

"What? Three thousand dollars for a COMPUTER??" - Yes. If I'm going to get a computer, I'm going to get a good one that I KNOW I can do what I need to do, play games I want to play, and run programs I want to run. If I want my videos to have quality then i need the equipment to do so.

"I don't Believe you, computers don't cost that much" - Wrong, if you're in the gaming world you know just how expensive even simple equipment can be. A simple keyboard that does nothing more than light up can reach over 100 dollars. I did try my best to find affordable, usable software and hardware that I think may not be the BEST OF THE BEST.. But will defiantly get the job done. I'm not looking to bankrupt anyone. The computer I want will be listed at the bottom of this, as the specs reach a bit and I don't want to leave it in the middle.

"What will you do with the (if any) extra money?" - If i over achieve my goal by a remarkable ammount, I may update the computer a bit, but in trust the entire bugget isn't going into that. any money after that will be saved for my future career.  As I hope to get bigger, I'll need more things, wasting every penny I save now would be just an awful idea. I'd rather have a bit of money saved, then when the audiance requests I get something.. I can get it. After awhile that same money will also help me give out prizes and things like that.

The computer itself cost 2,600$ +tax. This is alien ware that I have customized myself. This is NOT the best of the best computer; I'm not trying to get money out of you guys for no reason at all. This is a high end computer that can do what i need done with ease, and when(if) I get popular I know I can play the games that my audience requests me to play.

Now along with the computer I'll need some physical equipment to go along as well. I'll try and make a short list of things i would NEED. Prices are a range because again, I don't know if I'll come anywhere close to my goal, and if the goal has only reached so little, I can get low end equipment to help out. But I still can't get much done without the computer.

• A high quality recording mic with pop filter - these normally range from about 80$ - 200$ I found one on amazon for 12$, but I'm not really sure why it's so low of a price compared to everything else, as my high school teacher once said "You get what you pay for". But if that's what it takes I'll gladly start off small.

• A HD web camera, a video is no good if the recording is Pixelated and laggy, this is needed for quality. 20$ - 80$

• This is debatable if needed or not. But a good pair of sound canceling headphones. 50$-300$ It's debatable because when playing games like horror or music, a good pair of headphones can make a MAJOR difference.

Along with physical equipment, I need some proper software as well. Now these tend to BITE when it comes to cost wise, and if you know what you’re doing and know what you're looking at. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE recommend better or cheaper software. These are software that I've at least used before or have been recommended.

• Fraps - Recoding software, I've used this before and it seems to run perfectly. The program cost about 40$ but I know for a fact that it runs amazing and doesn’t take much CPU usage.

• Cyber link Power Director - Video editing software, this is recommended all over the internet and seemed to have one of the lower prices I can find. At only 50$ this program seems to be golden.

As far as I can tell these are the only programs that I NEED to get started, though others such as Photoshop and flash might be helpful at some point in time, the money they want for programs that I may never need, don't seem necessary.

All in all (without computer) the equipment could cost anywhere from 172$-.670$. BIG difference. But the better the equipment, the better the quality. Now again I am no professional, if you have equipment that you know works amazingly, and is cheaper. PLEASE speak up. As it is, I am asking for a lot and if I can make the price go done, I'd love to.

The reason I like Kickstarter is because the money that is donated to me isn't something that I have to fret over. If I only make 10 dollars, that's 10 dollars I didn't have to do something, but make no mistake every penny at this time will be going to something for you guys to enjoy, and later once I can afford to give out prizes, make no mistake that I will!

I have no problem giving back to a helpful community, I want to be here for you guys, someone that's on YouTube that you can actually message and not feel like they will simply ignore you. I want to make life long friends and enjoy life with my fellow gamers.

Sponsors

Now, I'm not familiar with sponsorship, I've never had to deal with it and have next to no clue how they work. I do know if I want to get big anywhere I need at least once. I have no problem doing a shout out for a project that I personally enjoy or think others might enjoy. I think these would be a little more private though so send me a message if you are interested in such a thing.

Computer Specs:

Now the basic model of the computer is 1,750$. This is nice but it doesn't come with warranty and probably couldn't run everything I need it to. I want you guys to know EXACTLY what I'm wanting so no one feels cheated at all, and if you as the community feel like I'm pushing it, then say so. some things CAN be changed, others cannot.

  • Operating system: |+ 0$|  Windows 7 Home premium (Saved 100 dollars by not getting pro)
  • Warranty: |+100$| one year
  • Display: |+150$| Changed from 1600x900 to 1920x1080 17"
  • video card: |+600$| "NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 880M graphics with 8GB total GDDR5" This is insanely important, and the price has actually dropped 200 dollars for a limited time. Laptop is a bit cheaper then I thought.
  • Memory: |+150$| 16GB DDR3L I own a 8GB RAM computer, It doesn't keep up.
  • Hard drive: |+100| 1TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s + 80GB mSATA SSD Caching it's this or 500GB, extra space is rather nice for the small jump in money.
  • Optical Drive: |+0$| Slot-Loading Dual-Layer DVD Burner
  • No additional software, there's no reason for me to ask you guys for it.

Price for laptop (without tax) is **2,600$**

That price will jump 200 dollars with their deal goes out, if there are any comments on the computer don't be afraid to speak up.

All I've got is a dream, and all I'm asking for it a chance, that's it.

Risks and challenges

Time is a major risk I face. I obviously don't expect for this to pay my bills, so a full time job is still required, however if I find that I have a small community behind be that believes I can make even a little difference in the world, I'll gladly change jobs, make LESS money if needed if it means I can devote more time to this.

Lets assume I get all the money I need and I get EVERYTHING. There will be a laps in time (That I will tell everyone so no one is left in the dark) where I acquire all these things. The computer on order would probably take a month by itself, everything I can go to Best Buy and get it myself. All I'd ask from you is a bit of time, I would never cut and leave I would just need time to get it all going.

Any problem I might have learning programs would quickly go away. Again if I find this become popular then I'll MAKE the time to learn everything I can.

Any other problems I might have, I have a group of technology smart friends who can help me threw any problems I might ever have, I want this to be as smooth as possible.

Again, no extra money RIGHT NOW for any prizes, but when I go anyone who actually pledged this much is going to get a T-shirt with my personal logo and signiture on it. These will be one of a kind made by me (the logo's and such, not the shirt) and will never be prized out to anyone after the pledging has stopped. After the time period is over there will be no way of getting these shirts. Other prizes may show up in this ammount as I find out what is all possiable, so a T-shirt for sure, and more than likely more.
