About this project
Your passion is music and performing, anticipating no limitations, no boundaries that holds you back.
Our passion is capturing sound of classical instruments, and giving you the Freedom To Act. To combine this, REMIC Microphones has been working in close cooperation with instrument-builders, artists and sound technicians to design the very best microphone tools for live- and studio- productions.
With everything we do at REMIC we aim to challenge the norms. We aim to keep the sound in focus and empower artist and musicians. Our products are user friendly, road rough and lets you move freely while using them. We just happen to make the best microphones available.
We want our microphones to capture the sound of your instrument, exactly like your instrument sounds - at all times - bringing justice to both instrument and artist. That is why we design tailored instrument microphones, because no instruments are alike! We want to strengthen the musician-to-technician relationship and work closely together with you, to keep improving our microphones.
Join in on our quest to empower musicians with the freedom to act!
”I’m really thrilled about the Remic W3000! This is a top of the line microphone with a fantastic natural sound. I love how it makes me sound really great and at the same time is very tiny and sits perfectly on my horn. The way it allows me to move around on stage and in the audience without worrying about feedback is incredible and will definitely make my playing easier and more fun.” - Philip Daveby - saxophone
"The Remic W3000 is simply one of the finest clip mics I have tried so far. Apart from the rich and natural sound, it also has great isolation wich makes it easier to control in the mix and perfect for using with electronics, preventing leaking from other sounds on stage." - Jonne Bentlöv - trumpet (Bo Kaspers Orkester, First Aid Kit, Andreas Moe)
"I tried the mic plugged directly into a mixer and it sounds fantastic! I also plugged it into my digital audio recording program and it sounds very clean and bright and projected a nice tone from my sax.“ - Pamela Williams - saxophone
"My first impression of the REMIC W3000 microphone is extremely positive - An excellent microphone - Clear and beautiful sound - The REMIC W3000 is very well designed and extremely easy to mount and unmount - even during a live gig" - Caroline Toftild - trumpet
"Remic totally rethinks instrument-micing. Unbelievable combination of clarity and isolation from the rest of the stage sounds.” - Jens Dandanell - FOH (FLOD)
Besides being the first to get the new brass- and woodwind instrument microphone, you will become a part of the REMIC community and the adventure - perfecting microphones to specific instrument groups. We want to involve you in our community and act on your thoughts and feedback of the microphones.
As a backer pledging for a reward-tier including the W3000, you will become a member of the REMIC community, which includes:
- Become a test person of future development and new mics
- We will share your experience using the mic on Facebook, twitter etc.
- Get a 10% discount on all future purchases on REMIC microphones
- We will ship you a fully functional prototype right away and when the production model is ready, we will exchange the mic (expected June)
We need you to make this project become a reality
We need your help to take it a step further! We need your help to fund the mold, adapting filter and tools for the production. Right now the products are handcrafted, but the products that you will receive will be made using the machinery and tools you help us fund.
We need your help to fulfill this mission - any artist, audio engineer or just everyone that believes in a better music experience. In return we provide you with the best microphones available for your instrument.
REMIC MICROPHONES is in a category all by itself
- Easy to mount/unmount
- Extremely road rough and high durability
- For live, studio, theatre & broadcast production
- Accurate & natural sound response
- High feedback suppression
- High suppression of ambient sound fields
- High definition condenser microphone
- Wide dynamic range
We have developed a microphone specific for brass- and woodwind instruments with advantages never achieved before. This microphone makes your instrument sound exactly like your instrument, it is easy and fast to mount/unmount and it is small and durable. The microphone can be used at both live performance and in the studio.
As musicians are investing higher and higher sums in finer instruments, there is a natural need for microphones being able to provide clearer and a more accurate sound response. REMIC MICROPHONES enables you and your audience, to feel the true seductive sound as well as maintaining a natural and aesthetic impression of your instrument.
Capture the true sound of your instrument
The fact that the microphone is specialized for brass- and woodwind instruments, provides the mic with the advantages of capturing sound from the instrument exactly as you wish it would. The microphones is a high definition condenser mic. The mic provides accurate and natural sound response. It has high feedback suppression and high suppression of ambient sound fields.
We could keep talking in a technical language, but you cannot explain what is true sound or what the perfect sound is. Our best argument is – listen to the endorsements from other musicians above. The musicians using the mic, is the best to explain the true advantages of the microphone.
Easy to mount/unmount
Freedom to act!
Durable - It is 100% road rough
Small with an aesthetic advantage
REMIC were established in 2009 and the first instrument specific microphones developed were used for grand pianos, which is known to be the ultimate hardest instrument to capture sound from. From 2009 till today, a series of microphones for specific instruments have been developed.
The core product of REMIC is the microphone for string instruments, but we always works on expanding the instruments that we can serve with quality microphones. The REMIC W3000 for brass- and woodwind instruments being the latest prototype, is almost ready, we just need your help getting there.
When we have delivered the microphones to all the backers, we are eager to hear your feedback to improve and make the microphones even better. It is not an easy job to develop instrument specific microphones that promises to be the best on the market. Every microphone model has been under several years of developing and testing.
We have established 3 audiosamples of the W3000 mounted on a Saxophone. One recording with no EQ and two recordings with EQ, mimicking the sound response of two popular microphones, the Neumann M149 and the SD Systems LCM 89.
The samples are MP3 because this platform doesn't support uncompressed formats.

BLUE CURVE illustrates the EQ-preset for simulating the response of the Neumann M149
GREEN CURVE illustrates the EQ-preset for simulating the response of the LCM 89
Please note that these curves are for quick setup only. The final results also depends on the EQ used as well as the loudspeakers, so you may have to work a little on your EQ to get it right, but this is a start.

Risks and challenges
REMIC Microphones have developed and tested microphones since 2009, being experts within the field. We produce several other models for different instruments and are well aware of the challenges ahead. We are competent and reliable and have expertise within producing microphones. There is no doubt that we will deliver and it will be on the promised time.
The microphones delivered are fully functional and at highest quality. They have been through development and testing for years. Our only challenge is to fund the tools to start the production to be able to take this product from prototype to production and this is where we need your help. At the moment the microphones are handcrafted, but hopefully not for long, with your contribution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
