Check out a summary of our stretch goals!
For details on each goal, see the Stretch Goals section a little farther down the page!)
What if I ran a role-playing game on a grand scale, where the greatest authors, artists, game designers, and creative minds could bring their finest talents to the table and enrich a new fantasy world with their unique creative visions?
And what if I ran a role-playing game where everyone could play? And it wouldn't matter if they played Pathfinder, Storium, or something completely different, or if there were two people or two thousand. Everyone could play together, in the same world, applying their own creative ideas, and forging those ideas into new legends.
This is the dream that drove me to create the world of Aetlatis and launch this Kickstarter.
Aetaltis provides a rich framework that supports and inspires new ideas, without getting in the way of creativity. It feels familiar enough that people working with the world know inherently how to interact with it, while offering fresh creative ground where new ideas can grow. It is a world of depth, consistency, and reason. It gives people the tools they need to build their own stories, while still providing clear opportunities to break the rules and march off in a completely new direction.
This is what Aetaltis is all about and the heart of this Kickstarter. I believe that by working together, we can bring a new world to life that will inspire gamers, authors, readers, artists, and creative people for years to come.
Because I know that I never tire of discovering what's over (or under) the next mountain, and I'm betting that you feel the same way.
Gaming is all about creative collaboration. The entire hobby is based on groups of people working together to create something fantastic. It's that spirit that makes our hobby different from any other and why I've involved so many talented people in this project.
It's also the reason I chose Kickstarter. This project isn't just about the world I created or the stories the writers tell or the pictures the artists draw. It's about what YOU do with Aetaltis when it's finished. With that as my philosophy, involving everyone from the start makes perfect sense, and Kickstarter lets me do that.
Creativity and great ideas are wonderful things, but even the best ideas need a strong business framework to survive. I've worked with accountants and business planners to ensure the world, stories, and art we're giving you are supported by a sound business plan. I've set aside the funds necessary to see this through, committing my own resources to the project before I ever asked you to take part in it.
I also created a business environment for the creative people involved that treats them with respect and properly rewards them for their efforts. Authors and artists get paid upon acceptance instead of on publication, they can reprint their work independently in the future, and everyone gets paid a professional rate that reflects the value of their work and experience.
These decisions, combined with my personal experience, ensure that the necessary business infrastructure exists to support this project over the long term. When you commit to support this project, you'll know that I've committed to making sure that the business side of the project supports your investment financially and creatively, now and into the future.
Pledge! When you pledge to support this project you not only get great rewards like The Temple of Modren adventure, but you’re also an instrumental part of bringing Aetlatis to life. The more support we receive, the more we can give back!
Tell Your Friends! Our hobbies are all about people working together to do something fun, and this Kickstarter is no exception. Get your friends involved! By working together we can do something amazing, and I can give you even more for your pledge! But if we’re even a dollar short of a stretch goal we lose all the benefits of that goal! Gamers accomplish incredible things when we work together, so please help spread the word!
Talk To Me! Our hobbies are all about collaboration, and Aetaltis embraces that tradition. Send me an email! Tell me what you like, what you think we should change, what you want to see, and who you want involved! I want to hear from you! I will personally respond to every email I receive during this Kickstarter. You can reach me at email@example.com.
Over three hundred years have passed since the fall of the Atlan Enclave, and the people of the Sea of Tears have finally brought order to their fractured world. Fledgling nations have grown into powerful kingdoms, thriving merchant states have re-established the old trade routes, and the priests of the Enaros have rebuilt their great temples. But in this time of hope, the shadow of an ancient evil is rising once again.
Deep beneath the surface of Aetaltis lurk the armies of the fallen god Endroren. For over a thousand years powerful mystic seals held Endroren and other forces of darkness at bay. An order of holy knights known as the Warders of Alantra created and maintained the seals, but when the Enclave fell, so too did many of the ancient orders—including the Warders. Now, after centuries of neglect, the holy seals are failing, and the dark ones have returned.
For the first time since the Age of Darkness, orcs, goblins, trolls, and a host of other fiendish monsters threaten the good people of the world. They strike with unrestrained cruelty, burning, killing, and destroying all that lies before them. The recently reborn holy orders have combined their divine strength with the temporal power of the new kingdoms to face this growing threat, but the dark ones are many and the defenders few.
But there is hope!
Lord Drakewyn of New Erinor has called upon the brave men and women of his land to take up arms against their common foe. In response, a small army of independent heroes known as adventurers have joined the fight. These stalwart men and women fight the battles ordinary soldiers cannot fight, go where the holy orders dare not go, and serve as beacons of hope in a world growing darker with each passing day. From hardened dwarven warriors to crafty cheebatan rogues, from fleet footed fey scouts to wizened selenthean mages, these brave souls provide what ultimately may be the only protection for the people of this troubled land.
Will you join these brave adventurers in their quest? Will you put spell and blade to the test in defiance of the Dark Hordes? If so, if you have the courage to take on this burden for the good of all, perhaps there is still hope, and perhaps you will become the next…
…Champion of Aetaltis!

Risks and challenges
DELAYS: Since authors, artists, and editors are still working on some parts of the project delays remain possible. Fortunately, the majority of the work for The Temple of Modren is already finished, and I have a strong pool of people standing in the wings ready to jump in to help to keep the project moving forward.
COST OVERRUNS: Unexpected costs could emerge. I've already made financial preparations to cover the worst case scenarios to ensure that if this happens it won't have a direct impact on the deliverables.
HUGE SUCCESS: If the kickstarter does REALLY well, it's possible I'd need to spin up teams to help handle the expanded reward fulfillment responsibilities. I've planned for this by selecting printers, service providers, and delivery promises that are ready to be scaled as needed. This should reduce any potential delay resulting from this.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
