About this project
I am Rebecca Wolsten, creator of Liam of York. I have been working in the NYC fashion industry for the last 7 years. High end to low end, big companies and small companies. I became a fashion designer because I love to make myself clothes. I am raising money on Kickstarter to start my own clothing line Liam of York. Liam of York is all about mixing and matching special pieces to create a highly unique look all your own. #3printrule. The more prints the better, accessories count! LOY pieces also work for the more understated, wear a patterned short with a white tee, or a tank with white denim. #normcore. We embrace everyone's style!
Backing this project will help with the development and production of the new line. This includes: patterns, fabric, labels, samples, look book, and production minimums to work with a small NYC based factories.
I hate the experience of shopping at fast fashion retailers and want to share with you the experience of owning a piece made just for you by me and my team. When a piece is special it becomes part of your life. You break it out every Spring for years to come. You get excited thinking about wearing it and wearing it reminds you of really good times you've had in it.
LOY is about creating opportunities to present yourself in a visually interesting manner. As a piece of art, a composition.
How you feel about yourself can change based on what you’re wearing.
It's all about confidence, self expression and how you feel.
When your clothes fit, and express joy, your mood is improved, you feel sassy. I think about formal characteristics like proportion, line, silhouette, color, how this color looks next to that color, texture, pattern, and surface. These formal concepts are what ultimately inspire my design and fabrics choices.
Production: All clothing is made by me or my local contractors. All dyed fabrics are dyed by me in my Brooklyn studio and will vary from piece to piece.
And now for the good Stuff:

Risks and challenges
The risks involved with the fulfillment of rewards are that the printed/ikat fabrics I am am using may no longer be available, or will be on back order. In this case I will notify you right away.
If the fabric is no longer available I will offer other print options for you to choose from.
In terms of production I plan on sewing as much of it as I can myself, if I need help I have a local network of contractors in Brooklyn that I will use.
If there are any delays I will notify you immediately.
You can always contact me with any questions.
