Our team members are originally from Xi’an,China and Ireland, and we all hold the same belief: change lives by intelligence and hard work. Unlike many other technicians and businesses in China, we have zero tolerance in copycat. We will stop further development if we found anything that is 70% close to our product. Our design and engineering team is entirely based in China, with insufficient funding and channels to develop even just a prototype. Lightir didn't come easy. We have spent countless days and nights staying in our lab, sometimes sleeping over nights. I am sure there will be a lot more difficulties to overcome along further development. That's why we decided to go through kickstarter so that we can withdraw the support to make Lightir better.
What is Lightir?
Most of the lighters that are currently available in the market only has basic functions without any high-tech functions that can record your smoking time, amount, and location etc. Lightir is equipped with a built-in Bluetooth 4.0 chip and is used in conjunction with cell phone devices. It can record data to achieve the purpose of monitoring lightir equipment through the ignition signals. The device also has a smoke control function that can be achieved by using our app on a cell phone.
Lightir ignites cigarettes by using an electric heating wire installed in the head of the lighter. Lightir is internally fitted with rechargeable battery, which provides power for the electric wires and the control circuit.
Lightir uses a push-pull design in order to ensure proper use of lighter and prevent potential injuries. On the back of the device is designed with light sensor. Only when (see right gestures) the use of the equipment is correct, specifically the optical sensor is covered, the ignition device will work, otherwise the lighter will not work.
The following pictures will indicate how we developed the prototype and how all the components of design, testing, and engineering came altogether into a complete model.
Recording Functions for Device Application
Lightir users are able to obtain the data of number of lighter usages per day through our mobile application. With this information the system estimates inhaled nicotine data, smoking habit characteristics, and other data for user reference. You can also use the cell phone camera to scan the cigarette bar code to get more accurate data.

Number Based Control
Through the application, a user is able to control the number of cigarettes smoked per day by limiting the number of lights available, for example only 5 lights per day. Once the user reaches the limit, the lighter will no longer work for the rest of the time period allotted. If the user is diligent, this lighter will achieve its function.
Our mobile application is currently still under testing and quality assessment. Even if the trials have been working effectively, as shown in our video, it may still take some time for us to complete the design of the app and improve on details. Actually part of the crowd funding we may potentially get through kickstarter will be distributed to cover the cost we spent on our APP designers.
Time Based Control
Users can specify which time periods they are allowed to smoke, for example: the lighter only works between 9-10am every day. Once the time passes, the lighter no longer works.
Location Based Control
Users are also able to specify locations they are able to smoke. For example: a park. Once outside the destination, users are unable to use their lighter. The location setting also works the other way around; users can specify prohibited destinations. For example: smoking is banned at home and at the office. Once entering the premises, the lighter no longer works.
Social Media Sharing Functions
A user can share his quitting experience, as well as the settings they used to quit. This setting can be downloaded by another user with approval. For example, a successful cigarette quitter has a setting that decreases the number of cigarettes smoked per day by one every week. After downloading the settings of the other user, the unsuccessful quitter’s lighter will assume the same settings.

1.How long can I use a full charge?
Lightir uses a 300 mA high-capacity lithium polymer battery and can light a cigarette 60-80 times (calculated using 6 seconds per light).
2.I sometimes give someone light on their cigarette, so how accurate statistics on my smoking?
This device has a data correction APP, when the cigarette lighter for others, the user can manually correct the data through the + and - buttons.
3. I am often forgetful, does Lightir have an anti-lost function?
Yes, Lightir with two-way anti-lost cell phone. Setting anti-lost distance, beyond the distance light, audible reminder.
4. I am more accustomed to using a flame gas lighter, Will Lightir have a gas lighter style?
We will launch the a variety of intelligent lighters that includes liquid, gas, flip, and metal lighters.
5.Lightir Which phones are supported?
Currently supports iOS6.0 and above, iPhone4S, iPhone5, iPhone5C, iPhone5S.
Support on other mobile brands will be developed after initial product is released.
Risks and challenges
Right now, we have completed the structure and circuit design, and the samples will be carried out after the end of the small quantities trial of production. One of our biggest challenges would be about how to make sure our APP could be seamlessly connecting to our Lightir once we deliver our perks to you.
