DONATING A % OF TODAY'S FUNDS TO 💔 "MARCH FOR OUR LIVES" 💔

I debated whether or not to do this. But this entire project - The Fallow Year album, this Kickstarter campaign, and the greater mission of my work in general these days is to be vulnerable, to be brave and speak my truth out loud, to allow my heart to guide my actions (along with some good old fashioned common sense) and trust myself to do the right thing.  So I decided to do it.

Today - Saturday, March 24 - all across the United States and beyond, student organizers are planning marches in collaboration with nonprofit organizations for gun safety.  These "March For Our Lives" events follow the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 students tragically massacred.  This event has been reported by some in the media as being the tipping point for gun control legislation.
There have been 149 school shootings in the United States since 2010, killing 162 students and injuring many more.  28 states have no minimum age requirement for owning a rifle, according to the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, which tracks state gun laws. Four states set the minimum age for owning a rifle or shotgun at between 14 and 16 years old.

I am donating up to 50% of the Kickstarter funds we take in today to the March For Our Lives organization: 1% per backer. If 10 people become backers today I'll donate 10% of the total gross amount raised today. If we get 30 new backers, I'll donate 30%, 50 or more people, 50%.

- We need to enforce tighter restrictions for purchasing guns
- We need secure methods of tracking re-sold or 'off-market' guns
- We need mandatory background and mental health checks before guns can be sold; whether from a dealer or an individual

Some will say that "artists should shut up and entertain without voicing opinions on political issues".  I believe it is the duty, the responsibility, and the honor of artists to comment on the world around us, see it from all angles, and try to make sense of the times we find ourselves in.  We do this initially for ourselves, but of course, it is for all of us.

Please reach out to your email and social media network today and encourage people to contribute in support of the March For Our Lives movement of students.  Because
