After celebrating a year of creating experimental artwork through the Exquisite Corpse, we decided to make our summer play BIG! This will be our first full-length play. It will be written by...not one...not three...but TWELVE playwrights. To add more creative chaos to the mix, we've selected a famous work of literature for them to adapt...but we're NOT going to tell them what it is!
(Okay, now that they are finished we can tell YOU what it is.)
We've divided Romeo and Juliet into twelve scenes, titled them accordingly, erased the names of the characters so the playwrights wouldn't guess the source material, and let fourteen playwrights wright scenes drawn from their own fancy.
The result is Romeo and Juliet as seen through the collective unconscious including a visit from the Dark Knight, a sexy Friar Lawrence that ain't afraid to shake her thing, and a Romeo that gets away with [SPOILER ALERT].
But seriously, the script is so good and the playwrights have been so giving with their time, we want to stage a full, theatrical production to serve the playwrights that have worked so hard on this project!
As the project progresses we will be giving you clues as to what you might see...but for now Batman, sex, and murder will have to whet your appetite.
Help make our adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet Drink the Young Wine" a reality!
