If you ever wished you could climb into Indiana Jones' shoes for an adventure, TOMB is for you.
TOMB is a walk-through, physically immersive adventure game, experienced in a detailed, realistic recreation of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh's burial chambers. You, and your group of adventurous friends, are given flashlights and, after solving the puzzle on the large stone entrance door, enter a ~30 minute long experience where you will need all of your wits to get out alive!
Your team solves puzzles, both mental and physical, as you work together to advance through the TOMB, one room at a time. You are surrounded by amazing sets, computer controlled lighting, a booming original score, and dramatic special effects, ranging from a dropping ceiling to mind bending illusions.
This is not a video game. This is not virtual reality. This is not a board game or tabletop game. This is a hands-on, puzzle solving adventure in a real, physical setting.
This is not a haunted house or a theme park ride. The choices you make and the skill displayed by you and your team actually matter -- to the outcome of the adventure and to your score.

We were brainstorming the other day, and I found myself saying “we should put our plans for the new show up on the web and get feedback -- we could pre-sell tickets and give special rewards to the people that support us, and…” and I suddenly realized, I was describing Kickstarter. There’s already an amazing community of enthusiastic, creative, game-playing, adventure-loving people right here, who would be super psyched to make 5 Wits’ next generation, Indiana Jones-style Egyptian temple adventure come to life.
We have a dream... A dream that someday people will not feel confined to staring at glowing rectangles (more commonly called "screens") to experience adventure. Get off the couch and make it REAL. The new TOMB will be the culmination of eight years of learning, and we can think of no better audience to be part of our launch than the great community of Kickstarter.
If we are successful in reaching our goal, the money will be used to purchase materials for the show -- both the mundane, like plywood and paint, and the more exciting: electronics, lighting, and control hardware that runs this interactive experience.
The TOMB experience is fully automated, with a control system monitoring your performance and adjusting parameters of the show appropriately. There are dozens of features like computer controlled lighting, atmospheric effects, illusions, and challenging hands-on puzzles. The entire experience is accompanied by an original soundtrack to complete your immersion.
If we exceed our goal, we have some great ideas for additions that will blow your mind. Backers will be part of the exclusive group that gets to weigh in on those decisions and receives the inside story on what to expect in 5 Wits' next venue.

Yes! And no! This new TOMB is being designed and built entirely from scratch: a new set, a new plot, new special effects, new materials and methods... But, if you are one of the lucky few hundred thousand who enjoyed the original TOMB in Boston, we plan to feature some of our guest's favorite puzzles and effects from the original as well.
We have extensive survey data from the first TOMB adventure, which ran in Boston's Fenway neighborhood from 2004-2010. The very best gags, challenges, and special effects will be recreated in this new TOMB. All the rest will be tossed out, and we will be creating many entirely new puzzles and visual "wow" moments for this adventure.
If you liked the first TOMB, you will love the new TOMB. If you never caught the first TOMB... this is your chance to experience the upgraded version!

When funded, we plan to begin the real estate hunt in Boston, and circle outward from there until we find the "right" spot for the new adventure. Searching for the right location is nearly as hard as designing and building these adventures, in our experience! We'll start looking in the Boston area, and see where we end up...
