Baritaria is a small island nation in the Black Sea, a lovingly mixed cocktail of Slavic and Western Europe with a rich and extensive history. The comic follows the life of contemporary youth living in Baritaria's capital, Stendhalstadt - Felix, a Russian art student, Havel, a sexy street musician and tour guide, and their friends. Through their eyes, stories, myths and historical memories, the protagonists explore the culture and history of their country of residence, jumping centuries, royal families, times of turbulence and war, prosperity and cultural creativity, even as the current political and social climate of Baritaria evolves before them. Baritaria Historicals - The Assassination of King Valliet and The Birthday of the Princess Two tales, one 24 page comic, to be printed by ka-blam and made available of the MoCCA art festival in NYC April 2011. There will be a run of 100, and those that are not sold at the festival will be sold online. The Assassination of King Valliet is a story of the exiled teenaged monarch escaping an Italian revolutionary. The true history is told alongside a 1970s film version which stretches the truth. The Birthday of the Princess is a pre-revolution 19th century story of the eccentric behavior of Princess Isabella, the crown prince's aunt.
One story is entirely new and never seen before, and the comic will include exclusive material, pinups, and historic articles.

The comic (and other art pieces like bookmarks, art prints, and original art) will be available at MoCCA, and if you contribute and can't make it to NYC, we have you covered.
