Free Music, Pre-Production, Songs & Shows!
Happy Fall to this amazing Kickstarter family!
So many exciting things have been happening since I last wrote you guys in August: opening for Jenny & Tyler in September, pre-production and a photoshoot for the album in October, and now gearing up to release a Caroline Cobb sampler on NoiseTrade in November. And to top it all off, I'm planning to start writing your songs and scheduling your house shows too!
FREE NOISETRADE SAMPLER:
First, this Sunday, 11/11/12, is the one year anniversary of completing my goal of writing a song for every book of the Bible by 11/11/11. In the last year, this crazy goal led to a house show tour, then a Kickstarter campaign, and now - because of YOU - a full-length album due out in June. To celebrate, I'll be releasing a FREE 5-song sampler on NoiseTrade on Tuesday, 11/13/12. Be on the lookout!
YOUR SONGS & SHOWS ARE COMING!
Second, I'm going to send out a survey to those of you who gave at The House Show level level or above. The plan is to gather all of the information I need in order to start writing your songs and scheduling your house shows!
A few weeks ago, I went into the studio with producer Josh Moore (Derek Webb, Sandra McCracken, Matthew Perryman Jones) for pre-production. We worked on the song list for the album and talked through production aspects like instrumentation, tempo, and key. Some highlights were hearing the piano parts on "Wake Up" ( from 1 Corinthians 15), practicing getting really "bluesy" vocals on "Dry Bones" (from Ezekiel 37), and hanging out with both Shane B and Shane E from Shane & Shane, who were really cool (I was totally star-struck, not gonna lie). We're recording in the Shanes' amazing studio near Dallas in January.... it feels and looks like a castle and has a great vibe.
Here's a picture of Josh and I after our last day of pre-production:
OPENING FOR JENNY & TYLER:
If you've never heard of Jenny & Tyler, please do yourself a big favor and check them out! At the end of September, they came to Tyler, TX - where I live - and I had the privilege of opening for them. This was my first show back from having a baby, so I was a bit nervous. But, it went great and it felt so good to be back at it.

In the next few months, I'll be working on tweaking and writing songs for the album, getting the cover artwork ready, and practicing for our time in the studio in January.
As always, I can't end an update to you guys without saying THANK YOU. Thank you for making this project possible! I can't wait to go into the studio in January and get to work recording these songs. This is your project, and I want to steward your patronage well and make the best album possible!
