About this project
Ten years ago, I studied vocal jazz at the University of Southern California, working with talented music-makers. Collaborations led me around the world: a USO tour in Kosovo, a jazz festival in Peru, a DIY indie band touring along the West Coast. I recorded background vocals for Steve Miller (of Steve Miller Band) at Capitol Records, and performed regularly in Los Angeles with exciting, emerging young artists. With a collection of my own original songs and arrangements ready to go, recording an album was the next step, and I was on my way.
But the newsletter high points were countered by hidden everyday challenges. Repetitive stress injuries interrupted my ability to play instruments. Living paycheck to paycheck in LA prohibited any investment beyond survival. The slog of adulting wore down youthful optimism.
Within this decade of push and pull, my musical confessions have been waiting in a folder, coming out to play only for occasional local shows, where I am consistently asked:
"Where can I buy your album?"
That is what brings me here today.
Music bridges the distance between "stage" and "audience", where together, we witness human experience. This act unites me with other people despite language barriers and cultural differences. I believe in this connection and its healing potential so much that I left my corporate day job to pursue studies in board-certified music therapy.
Today, I'm opening up my expanded folder of original songs, now polished with years of both musical and personal growth. It's time to make good on the promise to share my innermost music, and to honor the connection with the people around me.
I'm asking for support to extend the reach of my musical connection. My community has backed me with encouragement and presence throughout the years, and I want to offer the same through sound - to friends and strangers alike.
This album will contain ten songs, each a tribute to voicing the unspoken, unearthing stifled thoughts, and making peace with ourselves and each other.
Thank you for your help in sharing this spirit!

Risks and challenges
Working with seven other band members, a recording engineer, record mastering and a duplication service means that I'm coordinating many moving parts with scheduling. While I've factored in a reasonable timing cushion, there are potential delays:
-Musicians getting sick
-Instruments and equipment needing repair
-Mixing/mastering queue order in client list
-Duplication manufacturing error
Nonetheless, this album is ready to see the light of day, and it will reach your ears as soon as possible - quite possibly before the estimated delivery dates posted!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
