Thank you, thank you, thank you. You—the 525+ backers who have pushed us over the top of our ambitious goal—are a community from all over the country (and at least two from Asia!) You are individuals who know and love Sonia Sanchez's work, and are curious to know more; you are people who believe that audiences around the world will grow from this documentary; you are our friends and family who have seen our other films and believe in us; you are filmmakers and artists who like to see a work come to fruition; and some of you are just amazing generous people who came across this project and decided you could make a difference.  Some of you we know, most of you we don't, but all of you are now our favorite people.

A news reporter called us yesterday to talk about BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, and kickstarters. 'You already had funding,' she said. 'Why crowd-funding?' Well the fact is, our foundation funds were running low and we still have a lot of work to do. But it's more than that. What we realized in the last 31 days is that a documentary about Sonia Sanchez is a model project to be funded by you, the 'crowd.' Sanchez's words—and actions—have reached so many people, she has always given herself to the 'crowd,' what a wonderful opportunity for the 'crowd' to give back. So many of you jumped at the chance to be part of making this film. And of course the film, in the end, will go back out to all of you and many, many more.

From start to finish, the campaign has been an emotional roller-coaster. But the emotions we are left with are gratitude mingled with respect and love for our extended community. You have entrusted us with making a movie, and we promise to make a good one and let you know when we're done.

Now, back to making a documentary!
