About
About the film: A short film, docu-film style, about startups in Seattle, Portland, Silicon Valley/San Fran, and Los Angeles/San Diego. It's called the I-5 Startup Project since all of these regions pass through the Interstate 5 freeway (with SF being just a bit of a detour), for which our drive will follow along. I want to take startups from each region, from conceptualization to launched startups, and focus on the environment these entrepreneurs have in building a sustainable and growing ecosystem for their platform.
There are a few startups, investors, and incubators from each region who have sowed their support in being interviewed and helping create the film in each city. The film will document the mistakes and learning process as we speak to other persons with successful startups, angel investors, incubators, VCs, etc. to show what they've done, their mistakes, and who are what makes a great business.
This is aimed to be a powerful guide for new, young and old, and evolving entrepreneurs in creating their own startup. The West Coast region of this project will hint at the similarities and differences between the East Coast in Gen Y, TechStartups, etc. This is going all out.
Eventually, there may or may not be a short sort-of How-To book written, but that's all for another project.
Mission: Document the startup, entrepreneur, investor, and VC firm story from conceptualization to launch. From innovative to platform-changing, startups have a dynamic story in the web and business landscape. This documentary will take charge in documenting Angel Investors, VCs, crowd funding, small and big startups, incubators and every other angle an entrepreneur needs to follow suit in a successful startup.
Goal: Follow the pitch, the creative wisdom, the development, the statistics, the prototype, failures, hard work, the dream, the investors, the entrepreneur story, and the West Coast startup story.
In the end, we will create a film filled with interviews and an inside look at the world of startups. The project will rely on the people who matter most on this topic, and will be created during the month of August and September, and possibly longer if a bigger budget is acquired. This film be showcased throughout various events and, hopefully, will be a definitive guide for the community.
All startups and names of individuals participating will be revealed as the project reaches its goal.
Seriously, any money helps. Most of the equipment funding and other minor stuff will be done in-house. The project goal funding will go toward the projects in each region. Any additional funding will be for more interviews, and a better overall short film. Whatever you'd like to put in, please know doing so would help out not only this project but everyone that this film will benefit. Thank you in advance.
