The project was a huge success and is now over.

First thing's first:
Responding to the violent outbreak in our area:
Our city of Haifa is a unique and beautiful mixed Arab-Jewish city and as violence broke out in the region a few weeks ago, we found ourselves in a unique position to do some good for local Arab youth using the space you guys helped us build last year. See here a word from co-founder Yossi Levin about how you can join in.
We made these bicycle grips to feel amazing and last a lifetime.
We’re 20 year veterans of the cycling industry and have seen lots of gear fashion come and go. We focus only on creating gear that you can love and keep forever.
We actually didn't set out to make a wood grip, we wanted to make the best grip we possibly could and mahogany and maple were chosen for their qualities rather looks, the fact that they look amazing was a happy bonus.
We did tons of testing on different solutions for grip design and created a unique design that solves some issues grips suffer from: material fatigue, feel over time, fastening and space for your hand.
Metal press fit system:
Our method of press fitting wood onto an aluminum core proved to be the most durable, best feeling and most elegant solution. We created a custom aluminum core to help fit the grips on any handlebar with ease. The core is drilled and tapped together to allow two brass screws to act as fasteners.
We borrowed from knife-making techniques and gun-handle methods to create a fastening system that is both tight and beautiful with adjustability for varying widths. As with the wood, the looks proved to be a bonus rather than an end onto itself.
How are Daily grips different from other wood grips?
While wood is a great choice for longevity, feel and aesthetics; it is often difficult to fit on a handlebar without compromising these. To help solve this issue we created our aluminum core press-fit system with two beautiful brass screws to set it in place. This way we can avoid the need for a lock-ring which takes up space on the grip or the need for glues on wood grips with no fastening system.
Many wood grips out there are just narrow enough to slip on your handlebar and bond with adhesive so they can never be removed without destroying either the bar or grip. Other systems use a lock-ring which is a great fastener but it takes away from space on the grip for your hand either on one spot or often on both ends, thus making the wood grip itself shorter and feel less comfortable.
Best possible grip for urban riding:
We redesigned our grips to make them not just the best wood grips out there but rather to make them the best possible grips you could have for your commute, urban experience or country road. We also added a very slight curve or bulge to the grip to make it more of an intuitive, natural feel and gave it very slight 0.15mm increase in thickness to make it feel more substantial and last longer.
The idea was to make a grip that would fit any palm, be it a small girl or a 6”8 man. They feel amazing regardless of hand size.
Why we use Brass fasteners:
Brass is soft enough to not make marks on your handlebars like other set screws but tough enough to set the aluminum tube firmly against the handlebar. They also make installation as easy as turning a screw. They can be installed with any simple Flathead screwdriver.
August: 30 day Kickstarter project.
September: Ordering material, beginning production
October: Assembly and quality control. Packaging and shipping.
Mid November: All products are shipped to backers.
*All Daily grips are guaranteed to make it to all our backers before the Christmas/Hanukkah (name your favorite December holiday here...) holidays :).
We set the price of the Daily at 65$ because we wanted the grip to be available to all. Most wood grips are very expensive and/or under-designed for their function. We decided before we even began sketching to have Daily be available to anyone at a reasonable price, because we believe in their design, practicality, feel and longevity. This is where Kickstarter comes in. With a larger order size we can achieve this retail goal and stand by our promise of an outstanding grip.
Risks and challenges
Daily is our second Kickstarter project.
Our first project helped us launch our space and was a great success for us. We learned a lot through the process about manufacturing, communicating and creating the absolute best experience for our backers and perfecting the product experience.
Our wood gear along with leather bags from the first Kickstarter are now sold all over the world from Singapore to the UK to the US and Europe and we have learned to take that next step in creating larger systems for manufacturing and processing.
We have enlarged our space with new machines and several new partners for a more streamlined manufacturing process to be able to bring the Daily grips to you sooner and with amazing quality control.
We stand by our product and if for whatever reason you need assistance with your Daily grips we offer a limited lifetime warranty and replacement parts. (meaning we'll replace them forever unless you bang on them with a hammer or such other weird things...)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
