Update: Engraved Dice
We have reached our $4,000 stretch goal for engraved dice! All dice included in the game will now be engraved instead of printed!
And now, about the game...
"Gangster Dice is one of those classic, really quick, and fun-to-play dice games."
--Undead Viking Reviews [Video Review]
"There's the best, then there's the rest. This is the dice game you buy this week."
--The Kickstarter Badger
It's the 1920s and the Prohibition of alcohol has brought a wave of organized crime to the United States. You and some other gangsters have been pulling off job after lucrative job, until now. The coppers are onto you and you gotta give em the slip or you'll end up in the clinker. But not all of you can get off scot-free this time...
As a backer, not only do you receive a great game with all the cool stuff shown above, you also save 20% or more off MSRP!
We have managed to unlock some stretch goals which will make this game even better! Let's see how much more cool stuff we can add before the campaign ends on Thursday!

In Gangster Dice, each player starts with a set of dice that represents the evidence against them. You win the game by getting rid of all your evidence to "prove" your innocence. To do this you will compete with the other players for control of four tokens that will let you gain, lose, or otherwise manipulate the dice. But be wary of losing too many dice too quickly, as you may find yourself stuck with the rest.
Gangster Dice is easy to learn and quick to play, and on the surface it seems like a simple game with minimal strategy. However, as you play a few games you will notice there is much more going on than simply rolling dice. You must anticipate what the other players will do and think several turns ahead to give yourself the best shot to win.
So what's in the box?
The more content we can pack into this little box, the better this game is going to be. At our base funding level of $2,500 we can include plenty of cool stuff, but we always want to add more! Here are the components of Gangster Dice, along with components we will add if we can raise enough money and print enough copies to allow economies of scale to work their magic.
- Dice: 27 engraved dice with 4 custom symbols, as shown in the photo above (except with white ink for the blue dice and of course engraved instead of printed).
- Cards: 16 Bid cards, 42 favor cards. These are printed with original art that sets the mood of the game. If we meet our 6th stretch goal we will include an additional 12 favor cards, which means that in most games you won't have to pause and reshuffle the favor deck.
- Characters: 10 specially illustrated stand-up cards containing a character portrait and a special power which that character has in the game.
- Tokens: 4 tokens representing people and places of power, illustrated to capture the feel of the time period.
- Rulebook: Simply worded yet thorough, we have streamlined the game through playtesting with many groups of people.
How do you play?
The full rules for Gangster Dice may be found in PDF form here. This is the prototype rulebook and the finished copy of the rules will include examples, artwork, and a more professional-looking format.
Additionally, images of the bid cards may be found here if you wish to follow along with the example above.
That's all very nice, but what do other people think?
Of course we're going to toot our own horn and sing the praises of this game we made, but what about other people who have played the game? To answer that question, check out what these independent reviewers thought of Gangster Dice!
Bower's Game Corner
"I liked Gangster Dice a lot because it didn't feel like any other dice game I own."
Rob Cramer (Giant from the North)
"Gangster Dice makes you stare down your opponents until they back off your turf, only to reveal that empty threats pay off if you are convincing enough."
Board Game Brawl
"Most new dice games rely on the 'Yahtzee dice rolling mechanic'. Gangster Dice is bucking this trend and treating the dice rolling as part of a bidding mechanic as you try to influence people and places of power."
User Ratings on BoardGameGeek
"This games rocks! A must have if you like the gangster theme."
Our original campaign for Gangster Dice was rated the #1 project of the week for December 7-13 by the Kickstarter Badger!
Daniel Zayas ~ "All in all this game looks like one of those rare great dice games."

Risks and challenges
-Design, Testing, and Development (Complete): We have spent the better part of 2 years working on this game and we have had scores of people play it and help identify and fix problems. This game is ready.
-Funding (Achieved): We need a minimum of $2,500 to make and ship 100 copies of this game. More funding will allow us to print additional copies and include additional components.
-Artwork: We have all the artwork we need for the basic game components. We are still working on the character art for the New Blood expansion, as well as illustrations for the rulebook.
-Production: We have already produced 12 prototypes of the game, which has aided us in identifying and correcting a couple of issues with the production process (the box cover art was a little fuzzy when printed, and the blue dice were difficult to read when using black ink instead of white). Now that we have identified and resolved these issues we are ready to make a full print run. Once we have placed the orders it will all be in the hands of our suppliers, and of course the freight system, both of which have proven themselves already.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
