About this project

Featuring retro ASCII art, Dark Web is a card game of computer hacking in the 1990s. A small band of freedom fighting hackers team up to take down an evil corporation, and they meet anonymously over computer networks to conceal their identities. But there's a problem -- one of them might be working for the corporation!

The goal of the game is to search the servers and download enough data files to expose the corporation's nefarious plans. But be wary of searching too deep as security software may kick in, lock you out of the servers, and you will lose all the data you've found!

For IT players, do whatever it takes to stop the hackers--lie about your cards, play disruptive scripts, and undermine their plans. But be careful of revealing yourself too early as once you do, the hackers will work around you!

Playing time: 30 minutes

Player count: 3-5

128 cards, rulebook, tuck box

The full rulebook for Dark Web may be found here. Additionally, the print and play files may be downloaded here if you want to try the game before pledging!

Note: We have been working on the issue of balance, and we feel we're very close to getting it where it should be. Because Dark Web at its core is a cooperative game, it needs to be difficult for the black hats to win so that there is a goal to pursue.

Board Game Geek User Ratings

"This game looks to become one of my favorite filler games...I look forward to backing this when it comes to Kickstarter."

"Tried this today and did want to play a second time. Always a good sign. It's a solid filler game. You do have to work for the win. The semi-co-operative nature encourages interaction."

Martial Art was our second game, successfully funded on Kickstarter last year, and it proved to be very popular! Featuring historic Japanese artwork, Martial Art is a card game of factions warring for dominance of feudal Japan. The game consists of a series of battles in which players must anticipate their opponents' actions, build their hands, and manage their cards to acquire enough land and power to defeat the other clans and win the game.

As clan leader, command your armies and muster forces to find the tools to conquer places of economic and cultural importance such as the capital Kyoto or the rising city of Edo. But to win takes more than foot soldiers. Provoke a peasant rebellion, influence the emperor to support your claim, or even distract the enemy commanders with lovely Geisha.

Martial Art supports 2 players with a single deck or up to 4 players with two decks. You may order Martial Art by selecting the Samurai Hacker or Spider-Goat pledge level. All copies of Martial Art will be sent out within 2 weeks of the project funding.

Gangster Dice was our very first game, successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2015. It is a game of Prohibition-era gangsters being investigated by the cops and trying to dodge the heat by getting as far away from the evidence as possible.

In Gangster Dice, each player starts with a set of six dice which represent the evidence against you. You win the game by getting rid of all your evidence, which often involves pinning it on someone else. To do this you will compete with the other players for control of four tokens that will let you gain, lose, or otherwise manipulate the dice. But be wary of losing too many dice too quickly, as you may find yourself unable to lose the rest!

You may order a copy of Gangster Dice by selecting the Spider-Goat pledge level. All copies of Gangster Dice will be sent out within 2 weeks of the project funding.

Risks and challenges

To date we have successfully funded and delivered two projects, so we know how the production and fulfillment processes work. Additionally, our artwork is almost fully complete and we have received printing quotes from Whatz Games (and a few other printers) for our various funding levels/stretch goal upgrades.

Time has been allotted for unexpected delays. We expect to send the files to the printer as soon as Kickstarter releases the funds--usually 2 weeks after successful completion of a campaign--and we hope to ship the games to our backers early if possible.
