Hello lovely humans…
Welcome to my new Kickstarter! This campaign is to help raise money to properly promote the release of my 2nd full length album WILD ONE! I will be touring this album with my Blue Heart On Your Sleeve Tour - to help raise mental health awareness through music…
I am really excited to announce that I have finished the recording of my second full length album!
In June I made the solo 25hr drive from Salt Lake City, Utah, back to my old home town of Toronto, Canada to record my new album Wild One! It felt like a long time coming, like every album…You pile together a collection of songs you have written along the way and do what ever you can to find a way to record and release them, and pray to the stars that it will all fall into place!
As luck would have it, I received some funding from Canada Council for the Arts to be able to pay for the studio time, the engineer, the musicians, the mixing, mastering of the album, the cover art and a little left over to make a few copies!
However I would love very much to be able to give this album the proper publicity I feel it deserves.
Publicity is one of the most important parts of what we do, to make it possible for people to hear about our music and it is one of the highest costs.
After the expenses of recording and duplication of my first successful crowd funding campaign for my first solo album “Where The Darkness Goes” in 2012. I was able to record and manufacture the album and hire publicity in just one region. I picked the UK as that is where our band Po’Girl has one of our strongest presences and I felt it would be a good region to start with.
Gratefully, the album received a lot of rave reviews and 5star reviews in some pretty big UK publications, like Maverick and No Depression!
But, sadly I wasn’t able to expand that into the other regions that I also tour and would very much like to focus on that for this new album.
Here are a list of the expenses I am hoping to cover with this crowd funding campaign.
$1300 - Further duplication
$7100 - for publicity of the album and tours in Canada, USA, UK and EU
$500 for kickstarter fee
$1000 for rewards and mailing
I have decided to make a “stretch goal” this time incase we get over our first goal! As the over head costs of what we do is endless really…
This will be to help with some tour costs for the release and the ever so exciting possibility of pressing this album to vinyl!!!
I can only imagine the thrill of watching it go round as I drop the needle on music that I have written! I don’t think there is a more thrilling day dream as a vinyl loving song writer!!!
The stretch goal costs will be -
Tour support for flights - $2800
Vinyl - $4000
*If I make my vinyl stretch goal, there will be special rewards added to the list for people that contribute $200 or more and a discount from stage sales on purchasing vinyl for those who have contributed $25 or more.
***I would also like to take the time to let you know what my plans are for the release of this album.
I am calling this my Blue Heart On Your Sleeve Tour which is named after a song I wrote about mental illness.
My goal is to help raise mental health awareness through music by talking about it from stage and donating partial proceeds of the tours to different mental health organizations in the different countries we tour it in.
I will also be making and selling blue heart patches that you can sew or iron onto to anything you wish! The Blue Hearts will be $5 and 100% of sales will be donated to the cause…

Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
P.S. In this video are photos I have taken from our musical tours around the world as far back as 2005! It also debuts two songs off the new album!
Risks and challenges
Having already completed a successful fund-raising campaign through kickstarter, I have learned a lot about what the challenges can be.
For this project I have made sure to set more time aside in to fulfil all the rewards and mail them!
The biggest challenge I had last time was working with the different companies that I used to make the different rewards.
For this project I have chosen less complicated rewards and will be working with the companies I have worked with in the past. To eliminate possible timing challenges, I have already been in contact with everyone I will be working with to full fill the rewards and have convinced a couple of elves to be on my mailing team!
