Solo or Co-op?
Minimal Move is playable solo or with two players. We highly recommend playing with two! In this game, it’s important to cooperate. That is why it’s fun to play with your friend, your family or with your loved one!
The main mechanics of this game are pretty simple so that it’s accessible to everybody, but the evolution of the game is large due to new worlds, new monsters, and new blocks. We tried to make this game as simple as possible so that everyone, from kids to adults, can play!
Why is it called Minimal Move?
1. The game-play is minimal
We like simplicity and we try to make our game play as simple as possible so that kids and adults can all play together.
2. The design is minimal
We like a minimal design because we want our art to be smart and stylish. The puzzle itself is already complicated to solve, so it is better for the design to be minimal as well.
3. The rules are minimal
The rules are also simple; move blocks and go to the portal. That is why it's called Minimal Move!
Minimal Move has a beginning, which means it also has an ending. We have an original story that goes along with the game. You will discover the story with Kaiten and Ido until you get to the surprising ending! When you complete the 7 worlds of Minimal Move, you will know the secret!
The story starts when two characters, Kaiten and Ido, arrive with their spaceship, RX-181, on a mysterious planet. Their mission is to find out the secret of this planet. However, they received a strange signal from this planet: are they asking for help or is there bad news? Whichever, it is clear that there are some strange creatures on this planet. First, Kaiten and Ido were chosen to visit this planet on a fact-finding mission without any information.
Minimal Move challenges you in all 7 worlds! You can gradually develop your skills step by step.
This is the very first world when you enter Minimal Move! It’s relatively safe and simple but be careful of cactus. Kaiten and Ido have arrived in this world, now discover how to play with you and your friend!
It’s pretty hot here in Lava World! Watch out for your feet because the lava cube can burn you! The guard of this world, Flamin, will try to block your way.
The sky gets darker here in Lunar World... The jumper cube can transfer you to another jumper cube. Also, be careful because the robot Beaman is trying to heat up the blocks with his laser beam to catch you!
Snowing and more snowing… oh no, it’s icy here! The blocks are frozen and it’s super slippery! A snow monster named Yeti likes to throw ice at you!
It’s Jungle World! Wow, the wild vines have grown everywhere and the blocks are attached so we can’t move. Let’s burn the vines by using the flambeau!
The weather is becoming terrible! The rain is getting worse and worse… Watch out for the storm! In this bad weather, how can we go to the portal without getting an electric shock?
The final world! All the wonder can be solved in this last scene!
Minimal Move is currently planned to release on Steam with Windows and MacOS. We would love to port the game to the Nintendo Switch, XBOX and PlayStation if there is enough funding for it.
The game will be translated into English, French and Japanese for now.
We would love to have the game played in as many languages as possible.
To do so, first, we need to reach and surpass the funding goal.
Please let us know on the comment page if you would like to translate this game into your language. We will see how we can do that!
Minimal Move is made by us!
Tako Studio is an independent video game developer company based in Paris, France, and was established in March 2018.
Since then, we have been creating our first video game, Minimal Move. We are working on it with a very small team. Minimal Move is our first game and it’s a 100％ in-house production.
Jonathan Duval is the founder of Tako Studio. In the beginning even before the creation of Tako Studio, he started the entire project by himself. Jonathan is a 3D artist, having over 10 years of experience in the media industry for TV animation, TV advertisement, architecture and games. Also, he is a professor of two master schools in France.
Eventually, he found a programmer, Yannick Imposti, who is now a lead programmer and the game designer of Minimal Move. Yannick has experience in the video game industry and finished making two games before Minimal Move. He is also in charge of a master school in Bordeaux, France.
Yuu Misaki is the scriptwriter of Minimal Move and is doing PR and communications as well. Her origin is Japanese and she has had mixed cultural and work experiences living in the United States and France for over 15 years in various industries, including magazines, TV and marketing.
We have also great contributors for this project. Natacha Rollin Abastado is a 3D animator and Lisa Bouet is a 3D Rigger artist. They put life into all the characters in the game!
All music of Minimal Move was created by the talented young musician Pierrick Querolle. He is a sound designer and composer. His passion for the music adds to the heat and sensation of the game.
The Kickstarter campaign is a big challenge for us. Here are multiple good reasons why Kickstarter works for us.
Network with players: We want to connect with players all over the world. We want to know what you think about the game, both the good and the bad.
Self-production: We want to continue being a 100% self-production company because we want freedom within our creativity. Thus, continuing to make the game fully independent is very important to us.
Production costs: Making a video game as an independent developer is a long and difficult process. It takes significant time, energy and money. Therefore, we need your support to finish this game. The money that is raised during this Kickstarter fundraiser will be used mostly for the production of the game. If we can achieve the full amount of our goal, we have many more ideas for making this game even better!
The goal is not only the achievement of the amount but also, having a network all over the world through this campaign to expand a community with strong connections and active communications in exchange for players’ various viewpoints on the game’s production.
Now Minimal Move's production is about 50 % done. We are planning to finish the Beta version in winter 2019, and then we plan to launch the game in the Spring of 2020!
We are planning to attend some events during our Kickstarter campaign. Please come to see us if you are around! We would love to meet you face to face!
Stunfest in Rennes, France: May 17th to May 19th
Bordeaux Geek Festival in Bordeaux, France: June 8th to 10th
It is such a joy to attend game events and show our game to people. We received many reviews directly and it was fun to see the reaction of people playing and joking around with their friends. We can't wait to see you soon!
Please follow us on our Twitter, Instagram, FaceBook, Discord, and YouTube channel! We also have our Steam page too. The wish list is already available!
Please share with your friends and family to support us!
Risks and challenges
The production of Minimal Move is moving ahead steadily. We still need time to finish, but we are confident that we will be able to finish the game.
Depending on how successful this Kickstarter fundraiser will be, the development speed of the game will change and more features will be possible to add such as an online mode or more platforms. Hopefully, we will be able to make this game even better thanks to your support!
As Minimal Move is the first video game for Tako Studio, there will be many unexpected issues that may occur in the future. However, we will be honest with you if we have any problems and we will share all the steps of our production with you. We will take your every comments seriously to make this game better!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
