The Speaker is a Musical Instrument
We think of LIGNOaudio as high quality musical instrument
Neo Dimentional Sound can fill your indoor space SP-50SS
Your room can transform into a concert hall
Take the LIGNOaudio SP-50SS in your hands, and you will be amazed by its weight. Made of solid hard wood, compressed to gain extra hardness thus giving it a substantial weight. Internal structure boasts the precision of musical instruments. LIGNOaudio is our brand name for audio products created by Nagoya Lumber Company Limited using our original compressed wood material, LIGNOTEX.
With a promise of pure noiseless sound, for SP-50SS unit, the top-tier Danish brand, Scan-Speak’s neo-ultra small driver is used, their uncompromising quality based on European traditional sound technology.
Your indoor space will be filled by this charming and unique mini loudspeakers with the reassuring sound of music regardless of genre, from classics to jazz, pops, even rock.
Commitment to quality for discerning taste---SP-50SS
A cone shaped reflector is set in the pentagonal shaped body---our original design.
To eliminate unnecessary vibrations inside, pentagonal shape was used to create unsurpassed purest sound.
In addition, omni-directional reflector made it possible to realize the feeling of being wrapped by music wherever you are in the room, at the same time distinguish each performers’ orientation.
All parts are super hard LIGNOTEX solid wood.
Top quality conifer, Home grown Japanese cypress (hinoki) is used for the LIGNOTEX. This choice has worked well as similar woods from abroad fell into the endangered categories, thus all SP-50SS products enjoy the benefit of extra hardened solid wood, LIGNOTEX.
Wide range of sounds realized by Super hard reflector
SP-50SS: Wide sound image range is spread out dramatically by the omni-direction.
Ordinary loudspeaker: Enjoyment of Sound in music is confined to limited sound range.
Parts---Resembling the precision of a fine musical instrument
Bass Reflex Duct
For well balanced production of low to high range of sounds, bass reflex duct is the key. LIGNOTEX is executed with precision.
The core and key of the omni-directional loudspeaker is the reflector, which is carved out of LIGNOTEX in 90 degree apex angle, thus making it possible to gain maximum reverberation effect horizontally in 360 degree.
Unit & Baffle
In order to reduce the harmful diffraction, we paid a special attention to detail in keeping the baffle and unit flange on the close level by using an embedding method. All this painstaking care to fine detail contributed to the stylish appearance of the product.
Connecting amplifier and loudspeaker parts are important. To prevent the metal depletion over the years, the speaker terminals are gold plated, compatible with banana plugs.
The spacers, which work to radiate the base sound from bass reflex duct exit at the base are made of solid stainless steel, resistant to vibration and time deterioration.
SP-50SS’ true ability was measured in the anechoic chamber of the Nagoya Municipal Industrial Research Institute.
Despite the compact 5cm driver unit, the bass range has high sound pressure thus creating a rich lower tone.
“Takumi”, The Master Craftsmanship---Japan Pride
SHIRAKAWA CORPORATION, renowned for their special skills in intricate and most complicated master craftsmanship in making Hida Furniture passed our highest of expectations with flying colours, a must requirement for realizing top quality products----a story behind the creation of beautiful SP-50SS was created.
One of the Japanese traditions, Hida Furniture
Inheriting the traditions of Hida Master Carpentry, which contributed in the raising of both capitals of Japan, Heizei (710~784), and Heian (794~1869), chairs had started to be made by Hida artisans in 1920. Thereafter, carrying on the fine tradition of furniture making and outreaching to the world their mastery technique and spirit have caught the attention globally.
Compressed wood materials, ”LIGNOTEX”---An effective usage of Japanese wood
LIGNOTEX is high density, super hard, top quality wood material, which is made by compressing solid wood.
Viewed under a microscope, wood fibre resembles stucks of multiple drinking straws. By compressing the hollow structures, they get squashed, thus increased in density resulting in hardening of the wood. Moreover, the colour of the wood becomes darker giving it a vintage look.
Each wood is unique in density hence the quality of sound is inclined to differ. However, LIGNOTEX is manufactured with controlled compressing level, which guarantees the even density wood materials. This fact alone supports the highest quality LIGNOaudio offers.
We also take pride in using no chemicals of any sort whatsoever. Only water vapour, heat, and pressure are used. It is completely human and environment friendly.
In Japan, Japanese Cedar(sugi), and Japanese Cypress(hinoki) trees take up a large percentage of afforestation areas. They are relatively soft compared to other species of wood, and by applying our invention technique of compressed wood, these trees native to Japan can expand their usage further in numerous ways.
“HINOKI”---No.1 quality wood, another Japan Pride
Hinoki comes under the category of conifers, found only in Japan. There is the Taiwan Cypress found in Taiwan also. Hinoki’s scientific name is Chamaecyparis obtusa.
Hinoki is widely used for building houses in Japan, but perhaps it is best known as the lumbers used in building Horyu-ji (Horyu Temple), the world’s oldest surviving wooden structure dating back more than 1300 years. Hinoki is also used mainly for Shrines of Ise-Jingu, since 2000 years ago, where G7 leaders visited in 2016 when the Summit Meetings took place in the City of Ise-Shima.
Hinoki is widely known to be the leading top quality wooden material used for shrines and temples also. The hinoki used for SP-50SS enclosures are native to Kyoto. They are carefully selected from the highest quality hinoki reserved for building shrines and temples.
