We love to camp. Cruising out to the mountains after work on a Friday evening for a weekend in the outdoors is what keeps us going. We live for the inspiration that only nature can provide.
Our love for nights sleeping under the stars has driven us to create the next innovation in camping. The Black Fin Camper Box is a hard shell camper tent that lives on top of your car, truck or SUV. With the quick pop technology you can camp anywhere. You name it! City, beach or mountains, home is where you park it. With a full size mattress built in every box, camping is taken to a new level.
The BlackFin camper box is a new way to experience the outdoors. Traditional tents are great. But with the BlackFin you get to cut down on space and time while simultaneously gaining comfort and convenience in thirty seconds or less. The BlackFin comes equipped with a high density foam mattress that is extremely comfortable, and sleeps up to three people. Another camp perk is the extra storage space in the box to store all of your sleeping essentials: blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, and even a memory foam mattress for added comfort. Say goodbye to condensation and sharp rocks driving into your back! When you're up off the ground, you get to keep your distance from more than just bears or other furry critters. Plus, the Blackfin has ventilation on every side ensuring you stay cool throughout the night.
It mounts to most vehicles with roof racks and is compatible with both round and square bars. The maximum load of the tent is 550 pounds. We have used it to sleep 1 and 2 adults, 2 adults with 2 kids and a dog, etc. There is plenty of room. It truly is the most comfortable way to camp.
The BlackFin is super easy to setup and take down. All in all it takes about 5 seconds to pop and 30 seconds to take down. The initial installation of the box onto your car only takes about 15 minutes. Once installed, just leave it on your car for as long as you want! The fiberglass body keeps water out so you can keep your tent on your car all year long.
With the easy latch system and pop up technology you will be camping in 30 seconds or less.
The box itself is made of fiberglass and designed to be aerodynamic and cut wind, minimizing the noise and maximizing fuel efficiency. It is 83 inches from front to back and 50 inches side to side. When collapsed down, the box is 11 inches tall. When fully extended in camping mode, the tent is 36 inches tall.
Using our Auto Rise technology these tents combine heavy duty stainless steel rods to support our high strength, lightweight, canvas material. The rods use air to expand the tent. The Black Fin Camper Box has a weight of 130 lbs and a max complicity of 550 lbs.
The canvas is UV, PU Waterproof, fire retardant, and has strong air permeability giving it a breathable feel and allowing air to flow. We have used YKK zippers to provide strength and longevity to the zipper.
Inside the tent you will find an aluminum telescopic ladder that is extremely lightweight and can bear loads up to 330 pounds. It fits inside the camper box when collapsed along with sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, etc. The large net on the roof holds gear while in the tent, and a drop down storage divider on the side provides storage space to stow away headlamps, shoes, or other smaller items. The BlackFin also includes 2 hanger tabs for your coat or hat. Best of all, just seal the tent back up and your camp is already set when you pop it.

Risques et défis
We feel extremely prepared to deliver results from this campaign to backers in a timely manner. We have experience working with manufacturers and ensuring proper quality control measures. We have been testing these tents for over a year now and feel like our final design and modifications are quite good. Our manufacturer is ready to roll with and has all of the canvas and fiberglass needed to produce these tents.
We know that we can deliver on a small, medium and large scale. We want to get these rewards shipped out as quickly as possible so that people can enjoy their tents. Our main concern is if we have a larger than anticipated production run our shipping times will get pushed back a little bit. We also are aware and want our backers to be aware that shipping an item this large and heavy is not going to be going with USPS or UPS. We will have to deliver these via a freight company. So the notifying our backers of the delivery process and maintaining contact with each and every backer throughout the process will be absolutely critical for smooth deliveries.
