Hi! We’re Maria Baranova (photographer) and Sarah A.O. Rosner (creator of the ETLE Universe), and we’re so thrilled to get to share 1ND3X with you.
1ND3X is a collection of photos taking an intimate look at embodied time travel, and investigating how memory is mapped and stored in the body. This May we'll be premiering 1ND3X as part of the AOMC's ETLE Universe Spring Premieres in Brooklyn, New York. Leading up to that premiere, we're using this Kickstarter as the exclusive marketplace for prints from the 1ND3X - all photos above the $75 backer level are limited series prints of 100, and come signed by the artist. Check out the backer rewards for available sized and prints for each photo.
We're hoping to use this kickstarter to leverage support to take the project further - If we can meet our stretch goal, we’d also like to publish a PDF and printed book version of the collection. We’re so excited about the work in this collection--and we’d love to have your support and audience as we bring it to life!

In 2012, the A.O. Movement Collective began work on a project called the ETLE Universe, and Maria joined the project’s team of 50+ collaborators as the work’s resident photographer. At first united in the effort of creating an original work of queer/feminist science fiction, we quickly realized that our work was uncovering something far more real: a prophetic version of what will soon be.
Early on in the project, the AOMC began discovering and building a system called “Indexing,” creating an embodied movement practice for time travel. These indexes, detailing a network of high-density memories belonging to each performer mapped onto their bodies, are the AOMC’s research into the eventual time travel that the rebel THIC will develop upon hacking the FATH Company’s Reality Intensification Binders (or, R.I.B.’s) and unlocking their potential as chronomultiplous beings. Maria became interested in mapping the points detailed in each index, and visually capturing the wormholes created on and triggered from the body. Starting with the documentation we created of each performer’s signposts, Maria created intimate portraits of these portals and their overlaid images into other times. The final product, a collection of 76 prints, will be premiered this May, as a connected network of images in the space, paired with the performers’ writings on each signpost’s point in time and metadata. Raising $1,500 will get us through the show, but we’re hoping to reach our stretch goal of $5,000 so that we can create a printed version of the exhibit, enabling it to reach a much broader audience.

While $1,500 will allow us to print the 1ND3X collection for our premiere in May, we're hoping to raise upwards of $5,000 so that we can print the photos in higher quality for the premiere ($2,500), and potentially produce the collection as a printed photo book ($5,000.) To encourage you to help us get there, each stretch goal comes with added backer incentives, like a set of postcards for backers $10+, and PDF and hard copies of the photo book as rewards.

To celebrate the premiere of 1ND3X, we’ll be unveiling the collection as an immersive installation as part of the A.O. Movement Collective's ETLE Universe Spring Premieres this May 9th + 10th in Brooklyn, New York. We’ll be sharing the exhibit with two other ETLE Universe premieres--ETLE ILLUS, a graphic novel from the ETLE Universe, and Jeff Poulin's Conspiracy Wearables. Join us on the evening of the 9th for a opening night party, or on the 10th during for open rehearsals, gallery hours and more! More info here at www.ETLE.info.

Many thanks to 1ND3X's team of artist curators, who provided the initial support for the project, helping us bring the work from its inception into being, and making the ETLE Universe a reality! THANK YOU Ellen Maynard and Sarah Holcman!

Risks and challenges
As with any creative endeavor, there are a multitude of moving parts at play. The nice part of the scheduling around this project is that all of the shooting has already taken place, so you can rest assured that the majority of the creative work is already well under way. Once we’ve received funding through this kickstarter, we’ll be able to print the photos for our May premiere (either at the regular quality, or investing in the higher quality if we meet our stretch goal!) and then we can start mapping out the display for the show.
While we’re fully optimistic that the May show will go off without a hitch, one consideration is whether we’ll run into trouble with the FATH Company attempting to censor the content of the show, and shut down the exhibit on the basis of it’s potential encouragement of future anti-corporate sabotage and rebel THIC terrorism. While the FATH Company doesn’t publically wield economic and political influence until much later, it would be naive of us to doubt the power and influence of their hidden presence, even in this time. There is evidence of The Family’s existence in texts dating back as early as 1250 BC, and so we can only assume that they have a presence in this time, even if it is not publically stated. The information that we’re conveying in this project about signposts and indexes has the potential to benefit our allies in the future, and even help the rebel THIC hack the FATH Company’s R.I.B. earlier than it has will happened--a feat that we’re sure the FATH Company will want to prevent at all costs.
Our strategy is to call on your support to make our project as well-known and well-supported as possible. We’re hoping they won’t risk being known or seen in this time, and will take their chances on letting our project exist. They’ll hope we won’t give the rebel THIC too much of a strategic advantage, but we know that we have the power to make a change. The sooner we can get this work funded and produced, the better our chances of making something that lasts far into our future, and can help our allies: WHOLE, the ISM.e clan, ETLE, and the rebel THIC.
