Boodaechigae (budaejjigae) is a Korean dish that originated during Korean War. Direct translation of boodaechigae means "army base stew" or "military base stew." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budaejjigae). During the war, Korean people took the rations from U.S. military such as: spam, sausage, baked beans, and combined it with local ingredients such as: kimchi, chili paste, cabbage, and made it into a stew. Boodaechigae has mild spicy, salty, and smoky taste. Over the years, boodaechigae became a comfort food for many Koreans and still enjoyed to this day.
I enjoy eating boodaechigae but noticed that it takes a lot of time to prepare all the ingredients. So, my idea is to have all the boodaechigae ingredients prepared inside a package, ship it directly to consumers, and have it available for easy cooking at home. All you have to do is pour all the ingredients into a pot, boil it for 8-10 minutes, until the ramen noodle is cooked all the way through. The JR5 boodaechigae is different than the current comparable products in taste, probably because we use the best ingredients. I'm really excited to launch this product so many people could try JR5 boodaechigae from comfort of their home.
This is my ultimate comfort food, I love eating this at the end of a long day, and just want to have dinner and relax at home. So, next time you are thinking about having a movie night at home....maybe try JR5 boodaechigae instead of same old pizza.
Risks and challenges
I'm in the process of finalizing the packaging, and work out the manufacturing process. I identified several potential packaging solutions, and now I'm in the process of testing it out. I am also working with certified commercial kitchen to manufacture JR5 boodaechigae. Both of these challenges could be assisted by getting your support through kickstarter.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
