After more than 6 years and nearly 250 episodes, what more could a podcast say about a single, small country? Answer: a lot.
The award-winning Faroe Islands Podcast is heading back to the Faroes this summer, and we're going to see if we can visit all the islands we haven't been to yet. Namely: Svinoy, Koltur, Hestur, Stora Dimun, and Litla Dimun. All of these islands are small, some are pretty hard to get to, and one is uninhabited. But we're determined to bring the podcast to every island in the country.
We're also setting up more interviews with musicians, politicians, thought leaders, and interesting people in the Faroes. Plus, we'll have our annual coverage of the G! Festival.
Among our new premiums this year is a challenge coin. These coins are typically given out by members of the US military as a literal token of gratitude. But you don't have to be a soldier to have one of these coins, so we've designed our very own limited edition Faroe Islands Podcast coins and they're being manufactured right now. To learn more about challenge coins, there's a great episode of 99% Invisible on the subject.
We're also offering photos from our good friend Jon Armstrong. Jon traveled to the Faroe Islands with us last summer and took some gorgeous photos of the country. He's graciously offered to let us give out enlargements of these photos as a way to say "thanks" to our donors. You can see some of Jon's pictures of the Faroes here.
Risks and challenges
The Faroe Islands is nicknamed "The Land of Maybe" and it has certainly earned that reputation. The unpredictable weather can delay flights, cancel ferries and make recording outside next to impossible.
However, we've traveled to the islands 6 times before and have a good track record at bringing back great material. Litla Dimun, though, that island is going to be tough to get.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
