Now with physical copies! See below for details.
What would you expect to find in a D&D book that was completely themed around Heavy Metal?
- The ability to play a viable front-line Bard who raises the dead and literally uses their instrument as a weapon? Check!
- How about the ability to play a rugged gunslinger with dark powers stemming from the Nine Hells themselves? Or a cybernetic killing machine? Or a no-shits-given warrior who summons forth valkyries to fight for him? Check, check and check!
- Using your own organs as fuel for your brutal arcane rituals? Check with a face-melting on top.
- Iconic Heavy Metal monsters to battle against? Check!
- A plethora of magic-items, which range from macabre curiosities to world-breaking relics? Motherfucking check to that!
This book comes with over 100 pages of Metal-themed material for players and GMs alike. For a sample and an idea of what to expect, take a look at the Disciple of Metal, an 11-level prestige class designed to put the B.A back in Bard.
So why am I asking for your money?
Because good art is damn expensive (and rightfully so). The $600 asking amount is for cover art. I would be delighted to raise more so I can also commission art for various monsters, classes, and so forth.
What happens when the project is finished?
Everyone who backed at the $11 level or higher will receive the PDF as soon as it becomes available, and will also be able to purchase the physical book at cost from Drive-Thru RPG (that is, it will cost what Drive-Thru RPG charges to print and ship it).
For people who didn't back the Kickstarter, the book will be available online for purchase, most likely in the $10-15 range for PDF version of $20-30 for the physical copy.

Risks and challenges
Once the project is funded, most of the wait will be a) allowing artists time to finish their work and b) allowing me time to write and QA any content that's added through Backer rewards. If this project does phenomenally well, I'll have a lot of extra stuff to create which could make the project take longer than I accounted for. There's also going to be a playtesting mini-campaign for particularly generous Backers, which may inspire rewrites of existing content.
I am still in the process of obtaining Paizo's permission to use the Pathfinder Compatibility License (the product basically has to be finished before I can ask). Basically, this is the License that would allow me to explicitly say, "Hey, this book is Pathfinder compatible" in the finished product or when I advertise it. In the unlikely event that they turn me down, I'll be more limited in how I can market/advertise the book.
Thankfully, none of this would actually stop me from delivering the book to you. Because it's a PDF, I don't have to worry about the logistics of shipping and production. So, one way or the other, the book and its content WILL be made available to you by September 1st, 2017. Even if the book isn't finished yet or if I feel that it needs additional review. Even if I can't sell it for some crazy reason. If it comes to that, I will obviously, still send you the finished product when it's ready.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
