By the way, offline support isn't the only change -- enjoy!

FYI -- on November 14th 2014, they put in a single sentence in newsletter #49 that implied that they were no longer going to deliver offline support.

In newsletter #50, David Braben clarified that it was a "creative decision", not a technical issue, that was behind their decision not to deliver DRM-free offline support.

The vast majority of refund requests have been denied or ignored for over a month now; from our best efforts to discover, there are only about 20 confirmed refunds.

Read the project comments for more info.

WARNING: The official forums are being *heavily* censored and people are getting banned/suspended for being the even the slightest bit critical of the actions of Frontier Developments.

Any progress in the last 6 months? The premium beta was supposed to be out 9 months ago.

This is going to be the best game ever for a long time. The feeling of really travelling in space I got from Frontier 2 is something I never forget. This game is gonna revive that +*100000000

I can't wait to get my hands on the game myself. My X52 is ready, and the Rift hopefully soon ;).

@Mark Mills: Premium Beta players have already been given Alpha 1.1 to whet their appetites for the release of Premium Beta on the 30th of May. It has not been stated when Standard Beta will commence. £15 to get started today is a relatively small price to pay. I've been involved in Alpha testing from the beginning - Alpha 4.0# (what will become Premium Beta 1.0, I believe) is something quite special - I have had no regrets whatsoever pledging to that level.

@Phil Hellary: If you log in to the store ( and select the Premium Beta product your original pledge should be deducted from the total just before payment. If it does not, Frontier have been very good about refunding any overpayments promptly.

How can we upgrade our pledges to the premium or standard betas?

    11. Creator Torben Kristiansen on May 21, 2014

I'm slightly curious about the Imperial Eagle situation, given my pledge level. Since it is a Federal ship? I say just replace it with a Courier!

Just kidding. It will all be good. Where Eagles dare! :-)

I am seriously considering paying the £15 upgrade from my £90 original pledge to play premium beta.. what does anyone think?

    13. Creator Eric on May 21, 2014

      @Michael Rozdoba

That's compression artifacts in the video.

    14. Creator Michael Rozdoba on May 21, 2014

Is the banding seen in the video (in dark areas) a result of the video encoding or is it present in ED's rendering?

      Yummy. (c:
