Elite: Dangerous Alpha Phase 3 Released

The latest phase in the Elite: Dangerous alpha process has been released and we've got a Progress Diary to go alongside it. Here David Braben goes through the technical intricacies of the Coriolis starport Zelada found in Alpha phase 3.

The build itself contains the following key features:

  • Outfit your ship with new modules
  • Upgrade your weapons and repair any damage using the credits you have earned from the locations
  • Clear bounties earned when committing crimes
  • And once you have saved enough credits, you can purchase the most well known ship in the galaxy – the Cobra Mk III, a firm favourite from the Falcon de Lacy shipyards

As with the previous phase your feedback is important to us, please make sure to report any issues through the link provided in the launcher and for more experiential feedback please join in the discussion in the Alpha section of our forums.

Hi everyone,

The latest Dev Diary has been posted, in it David talks about the alpha process so far and what we can expect in the next iterations, it also features some clips from the upcoming second phase focusing on multiplayer combat.

We’re looking forward to encountering all the alpha backers in battle soon!

We’d like to thanks everyone who has participated in the alpha process so far, your feedback has been valuable in improving the game. If you’re in the alpha, but haven’t provided feedback yet, then please do so! We have set up a dedicated area on our forums for alpha feedback on discussions, come visit our forums here:

Many people have asked if there is an easy way to upgrade from the beta program to join the Alpha so we have made this possible through our store. Simply add the Alpha product to your store basket and it will automatically discount the value of the Beta version you have paid for.

This is for the software only and is not affected by any other items you may have pledge for. More information is available in the Q&A for backers on the store.

You can purchase the alpha access in the store here.

We’ll be back soon with more information on the game and it’s progress with the next newsletter, due for release next week.

Until next time Commanders

Hi everyone,

The first phase of the alpha process has now been released, backers with the Alpha access reward tier or higher will be contacted directly with the details they need to download and play the first Alpha release. If you’re eligible and haven’t received our email then please contact edbackers@frontier.co.uk and we can sort it out.

The latest Elite: Dangerous Dev diary has also been released, in it David talks about the Phase One – Single Player Combat alpha build as well as showing some clips captured from the build.

Over the coming months new features and content will be made available; we’ll announce further details as we progress through the alpha process. If you’re not taking part in the alpha then keep your eyes on your inboxes for the next newsletter (coming soon!) which will feature the single player combat build in more detail.

The Backers App that has served us so well since the conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign has now been closed and the new Frontier online store has opened its virtual doors. You can visit the store via the link below:

elite.frontier.co.uk.

From the store you can pre-order Elite: Dangerous and purchase early access in the Alpha and Beta periods. We’ll add more exciting products to the store over the coming months.

Thanks for reading and until next time ... Right on Commander!
