Regarding the starting ships, i still hoping we will receive confirmation that we will be able to have multiple "toons" on our account so that i can try several of the starts

I was interested in what someone was saying yesterday about interesting people in the political systems possible in the game.
Imagine forming a group of anarchists and libertarians. Will the system work in the game? Defend it from the evil authoritarian regimes! Or how about forming a communist system, prove it works in practice :)

    7. Creator Bromley86 on December 23, 2012

@Freuyh. Correction, you're probably right. I'd forgotten how much more a Cobra Mk3 cost than an Eagle in FFE.

    8. Creator Nathanael Page on December 23, 2012

      @ Shayne

Thanks. :) I remember spending many hours pouring over the ship specs, trying to decide upon the "perfect ship".

Then FFE came out, and I got the perfect ship from the missions. And the fun vanished. :(

    9. Creator Steve Jeyes on December 23, 2012

@Commander Boz - No worries sir.

    10. Creator Tim L [Paden on ED Forums] on December 23, 2012

@Freuyh, yes, it just depends what ships are available for purchase in what systems - you'll have to find them for sale and then it's down to the credits... (but like you said - 'downgrading' frees up some cash!)

    11. Creator Chunk on December 23, 2012

      @Michael TY for the info

    12. Creator Bromley86 on December 23, 2012

@Freuyh. Definitely should be able to sell, but the loss of credit of the transaction would be a strong incentive not to (you might as well just use one of your other starts, like the Imperial Bounty Hunter).

    13. Creator Commander Boz on December 23, 2012

@Steve Jeyes - Thank you so much for the support!

    14. Creator Shayne Fotheringhame on December 23, 2012

@Styggron that would be awesome.. a precursor to a military career perhaps
      @Nathanael good memory :)

Wonder what the cumulative total is with KS and Paypal

    16. Creator freuyh (deleted) on December 23, 2012

From what I remember both Krait and Viper were smaller and cheaper ships than a Cobra 3 in Frontier. If it's the same this time round you should be able to just sell your starting Cobra and exchange it for one of those, like in Frontier.

    17. Creator Jason S on December 23, 2012

The sixty eight backers at the seventy five level either want the physical items big time or do not realise there is an eighty level with future expansions free.

I hope they revist here to see the new tiers and offers before the end.

3 have succeeded and 3 still need support. Check them out.

Police career would be cool. Get some credits going.

      @ Carsten

The private backers forum will get news before the rest of the world. You'll get more information on the progress of the games development. It's essentially a closer look at what we're doing, although not as design focused as the design forum.

    22. Creator Commander Boz on December 23, 2012

@Styggron - Oh yeah, forgot, sorry :) Although if such a movement builds, I don't see why NPCs can't join, and the movement become available in your universe, too.

    23. Creator Cmdr Elvis Brandenburg - Kremmen on December 23, 2012

      The Thargoids

Based on their synthetic homeworld of Thargoidia, the Thargoids are a race of beings led by Gort ,
who drain all other beings of their knowledge so that they will be the most intelligent beings in the universe.

They are described as having transparent heads, furry green eyeballs, seven legs and three lips.
This latter feature is the reason the Thargoids drink tea; as Gort explained: "You try asking for llllager and llllime with llllips llllike these!"

    24. Creator Nathanael Page on December 23, 2012

      @ Shayne

Kraits were much faster than Vipers, and I seem to recall that Sidewinders were faster still. There were a fair few ships faster that Vipers.

Viper Mk2 was a tiny bit larger than the Mk1 so it was slower, but the extra cargo space pushed it over into "fighter" category for me.

    25. Creator Shayne Fotheringhame on December 23, 2012

      @Tim I'd say A.
Most likely a wild guess but I get the impression there will be alien ships that are unattainable at first

      This:
"a total of 15 ship types (player and NPC) until the next expansion?"

    28. Creator Commander Boz on December 23, 2012

@Styggron - Even if there isn't a cop career, we could always form a vigilante movement :)

    29. Creator Synchromesh on December 23, 2012

I want a rust bucket Cobra.....Back to basics for me :)

    30. Creator Bil Irving on December 23, 2012

@Styggron: Isn't that much the same as a bounty hunter though?

    31. Creator Shayne Fotheringhame on December 23, 2012

Vipers were the fastest ship in frontier from memory.. it was just the cargo space that put me off..

    32. Creator Styggron on December 23, 2012

I am hoping there is a Police career. That would be great.

    33. Creator Tim L [Paden on ED Forums] on December 23, 2012

So are people interpreting the "15 ships" as:

15 ships available to fly from the start, but with more NPC ship types

      OR

a total of 15 ship types (player and NPC) until the next expansion?

    34. Creator Synchromesh on December 23, 2012

      Steve : Nice one mate

    35. Creator Bil Irving on December 23, 2012

@Sean: CR's update post likely accounted for much of the increase in backers on Godus, that and the deadline looming near. As @freuyh says though, this is more than do-able and whilst we shouldn't celebrate or rest on our laurels, there's absolutely no reason to get downhearted about how this is going.

    36. Creator Synchromesh on December 23, 2012

      @Styggron : yep they were

    37. Creator Nathanael Page on December 23, 2012

Viper Mk IIs were decent ships. Just large enough for decent equipment, but small enough that they had good hyperspace ranges. Useful for time-critical missions that might require some level (but not too intense) combat.

    38. Creator Steve Jeyes on December 23, 2012

I'll be upping my pledge for any books that don't succeed, by the amount I pledged for them (and maybe a smidge more too). Hoping they do succeed though.

    39. Creator Styggron on December 23, 2012

Vipers were Police ships I think.

    40. Creator Shayne Fotheringhame on December 23, 2012

they're flying a viper in one of the dev videos aren't they?
and I have fond memories of flying one in frontier :)

    41. Creator Tim L [Paden on ED Forums] on December 23, 2012

@Philip T - it was available in Frontier (Elite 2), and looks like it will be here too!

    42. Creator Bil Irving on December 23, 2012

@Philip: You could only ever fly a Cobra MK3 in the original Elite though. I think there are better ships available than Vipers, but each to their own...

    43. Creator Sean Houlihane on December 23, 2012

Godus picked up 5604 backers in the last 4 days. If we get that, at a pesimistic average of £30 each, that's already close to £170,000 (and we have probably got a slightly wider presence). Not guaranteed, but looking good.
It does need more people spreading the word though - lots of people still haven't really seen this (at all, or enough to become interested), so keep sharing the videos and pushing the social media sites...

    44. Creator Tim L [Paden on ED Forums] on December 23, 2012

@MonkeyMan - have you been practising your breathing exercises for the big one then?

    45. Creator Chunk on December 23, 2012

@Steve Thats what I hope for, but I will wait till Michael comments on it. I am sure I am not the only one wondering about it.

    46. Creator Philip Turner [AKA PianoPhil @ FD Forum] on December 23, 2012

Will we be able to fly a viper? Always thought from the original elite it was a police ship only?

    47. Creator Tim L [Paden on ED Forums] on December 23, 2012

@Steve J - no they haven't confirmed if those other two are available at the start, but @DB did confirm that these are 2 of the 15, I think. Whether all 15 will be 'available' when you load the first time, I don't know. And even if they are in the new & used ships, that doesn't mean you'll have enough credits to afford them (affected by your pledge tier now). I'm still lobbying for the Asp Explorer (but a Mk.II, Mk.III and Mk.IV would be welcome in time!)

    48. Creator Synchromesh on December 23, 2012

@freuyh: Ye the last thing we need at this stage is Doubting not after coming this far.....We need to be positive with lots of enthusiasm :)
