@ Geraldine McDaid
That was my E2F gaming platform, and you inspired me with your amiga pic ;)
614 to go for 70%
Thanks for your comment, I want this game so much I've upped my pledge by £20 today.
@Boz : Hey well you know life goes on. Was confirmed yesterday we are all toast at my firm. On a brighter note, Supermassive is a-massing a tiny coterie of backers, which is nice.
Just a heads-up on my E:D novel project, illustrated and with a story ready to be told, still open over at http://pozible.com/suprmasv ...All proceeds to be added to my existing fat pledge to jonty up to £4.5k. We can certainly use that extra firepower as we head towards 5 Jan!
wonder if I can make my own ED jammas via Zazzle...

@ Cmndr Bond. Double your RAM. In fact that's always good advice for anyone - always double your RAM.
He yeah - I was being conservative it may have 4gb - i can't remember the last time i checked and i do most stuff on the lappy now.
After watching the great scanvenger video, will it be possible to partly destroy craft ie knock out their engines scavenge any regurgitated loot from their spilled cargo and not get a bounty on your head because you did not kill the pilot, just an idea for earning money for sharp shooting ;-)
@ Andrew Sayers - No, rating is based on number of kills, not effort of kill. Police & navy don't count though, I think...
I know this is kind of a silly question, but it's been bugging me for 30 years...
@Michael - given that all ships in the universe are rated on the number/difficult of ships destroyed, how will ED fix the problem with an "average" rating meaning anything other than 0.5 kills?
It would be great if anyone who is currently sitting on the £20 tier, that is planning on upgrading to one of the other tiers later, before the kickstarter ends, could upgrade now to at least the £30 tier. This will free up some of the limited slots and will allow new backers that can only afford to enter at £20 to join.
Let's make it happen :)
E:D slippers, please. Already pledged for the mug for my cocoa.
Maybe the fame was getting to much? ;)
After all not many people get mentioned by The Creator in a DevDiary! ;)
@all : Did that last video rock or what?! Get quite excited remembering the old gameplay and watching the new rendered atmosphere and effects! Squee!
Hey Andre, hope things are looking up for you.
Like your avatar, a Falcon. Not seen one of those in many a year. :)
1.2k to 70%, and 26.2k to magical 900k
nope, no DeusXes around here for awhile ...? Unless he's gone incognito ;)
Anyone seen Deusx around?
Oops it gone again
@David / Michael - Another minimum specification question.
I know you cannot give a definitive answer on specs, and I appreciate you are trying to make this scale as much as possible to reach as wide an audience as possible.
I do plan on upgrading, but not sure if I can afford to before the Alpha or Beta's - so whilst I am not looking for a concrete confirmation would souled t please be possible if you could GUESS if the Alpha & Beta's would run on my current system.
I wil not hold you to this.
I have a 3.0 GHz P4E (Prescott) with 2GB RAM and a nVidia GeForce 5950 Ultra AGP graphics card, running Windows XP
£20 tier just opened up

Well said Mario, it would be a crime indeed, not only for us on this Kickstarter now, today, but also for the generation of gamers who will follow us. We must ensure that grand legacy is there, waiting for them, to fire their young minds, to make them dream of far away places, the effort it takes to reach them, epic battles and the raw wonder of discovery.
For me, knowing the new Elite game is out there and being played, weaving it's magic just as it did 30 years ago, would give me much comfort.
Failure of this Kickstarter simply isn't an option I am willing to consider, not even on the last day.
@Matthew Stripe Evans
I'm guessing every ship will have a different console/cockpit since the plan is to model the interiors for future updates when we will be able to walk around inside the ship. Or maybe every ship has a "standard" cockpit by law. ;) i'm betting on my first guess though.
You are free to jump in and comment about this! :)
Last night I finally made it :)
using this beautiful ship:
Played on my E2F Atari ST copy I bought in February 1994 (run under STeeM emulator).
@ Matt Stripe - I'd like my radio tuner to be a McKintosh please with Radio 3 and The World Service, broadcsasting from BBC Alioth palace.
@ Matthew Stripe Evans
That's a cool suggestion.
Hi all, hope everyone at FD is doing well!
I mentioned in one of the Update threads, the use of an in-game radio scanner mounted on each ships dash console. It would work in a very similar way to the car radio in the GTA games. Different channels could be selected depending on whether the player wishes to listen to music, chat shows, ads, etc. even pick up distress signals. Personally I think a classical music channel that includes The Blue Danube and The Flight of The Valkyries is a must! :)
Another cool feature could be to illegally get your radio scanner modified to pick up police chatter and further black market mods could enable reception of military transmissions.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this idea and the feasibility of it being implemented in the game, maybe as an expansion?
Going back to the dash console, I'd be interested to know if the dash panel will be a generic one as in the previous games or unique consoles to each ship type? Maybe a generic amount of buttons/sliders for every ship but with unique skins and/or layouts for each ship type would be cool?
You're all doing great work there at FD and I'm so glad to be part of it in a small way! :)
I've only just discovered Pioneer Space Sim. Goodbye reality!
Got lots of t-shirts, so rather have off Dave Braben some lovely
ED jammas please, brushed cotton.
I had an actual ED dream last night - no, really... was drifting through deep space. Could have been a lucid dream - I get them sometimes.
@ JC Ford
We would certainly like that to be the situation, but the Kickstarter is specifically for developing the Windows PC version.
I'm planning on doing exactly that :-)
@Jonty, hehe but don't try and dock with it :)
@ Frontier Michael - Got lots of t-shirts, can I have ED jammas instead?
Kate Russell is a one-woman procedural pledge generation machine.
@ Knarl - Wombats have cube shaped poo.
@Nathanael - well done sir :)
Nope not Angry Wombat. IIRC I was W0MBAT and my friend was WOMB4T. Wombat's hunted in pairs back then ;)
I hope neither of you was "Angry Wombat" from Travian?
I had a lot of problems with Angry Wombat....
