WHAT IS WARLORDS OF TERRA?
Warlords of Terra or WoT is a new card game we classified as BTCG (Battlefield Trading Card Game),because of one thing that makes it different from the rest of card games you have seen: THE REAL BATTLEFIELD!
Instead of attacking/defending classical tactics, WoT has a Real Movement Battle System based on the existence of a board, divided in 25 zones, which our troops (cards) will have to cross if we want to reach our "enemy" lines and beat them. Next, you may appreciate an example of the battlefield in this online version.
But we think a video could be better than a single screenshot, so here you can see our VERY first pre-alpha version working!
This kickstarter is for ONLINE VERSION, but we developed this game for it to be a card-board game. So, with the appropiate support, next kickstarter would be to launch WoT physically!
The PLATFORMS in which WoT will be available are:
1st) PC, MAC and Linux (this probably a BIT later).
2nd) After a While, we'll adapt it for tablets, putting it on Google Play (Android) and IOS (with certain degree of success, we'll pay IOS license, count with that). IMPORTANT: because of the game design, WoT won't be playable in smartphones, as battlefield couldn't be seen properly, and cards couldn't be well used or even seen.
Consider WoT a true FREE TO PLAY game, as it'll have a double coin system (real money and Shields, game coins). So, players will earn shields by playing PvP matches, rising levels and earning rewards for that. That will allow them, without needing to spend money (if they don't want), to buy more regular boosters, additional decks, or entering drafts or tournaments.
Some recently taken decisions are fundamental in this sense:
Although probably won't be available in the release date for the game, not much later we'll add an AUCTION HOUSE, for players to trade with their cards and earn shields. So, their purchases become investments, as they can take back that money in game products again and again.
We've also decided to add Direct Trade System, which will allow players to sell directly cards to friends/whoever. However, this mode will be implemented later. Anyway, players have our commitment, we'll develope it! For cheapest cards, or just for helping friends, you'll have the option to get into Gift Mode too!
Two Important data for AUCTION/SELL systems: a)There will exist a fee for trading: 7% for Auction and a small tax (10 shield) for direct sell/trade. In 1st case, fee will be discounted from seller benefits, but in direct trade/sell mode, both players will have to pay the small tax.

Why is Warlords of Terra a great choice? Here we show you the four main factors that make us believe strongly in our project and its quality.
- New Battlefield Playing System (explained).
- Two-Deck System. As we have seen in other TCG Games, putting resources (mana, for example) in the same deck with playable cards may bring to boring Auto-lose games because we draw no resources cards, or even only those cards (and not playable cards).
So, we have a Battle deck (40 cards-right in picture) and a Building deck (20 cards-left), and every player will draw 4 battle cards and 3 resources cards. But it's not as rigid or monotonous as 1 turn=1 resource. In building deck we find Place cards, which have a cost of building and add a specific resources (gold or mana) amount each turn.
As you can see, cost and production vary depending on each place (Ancestral Valley: cost 2 Mana/add 1 mana per turn; Cathedral: cost 3 Gold/ adds 1 mana+1 gold per turn).
This allows the player to develop a specific building plan and, as a consequence, a concrete resources curve adapted to its battle deck.
- True EPIC Aesthetics. We break with the contemporary concept "the simplest, the best". In our opinion, an epic game deserves a true EPIC aspect, and our cards show that (and our battlefield and graphic interface will). In WoT, the frame is not a mere "rule container", as it represents the spirit of the kingdom that belongs to. We defend a concept of aesthetics with something we could call a "Retro-Epic touch", but always without being excessive.
To reinforce the Epic feeling, we have composed the Original Soundtrack in order to sound as epic as possible, even when you are in battle with your opponent! Here we leave you a sample, the theme that will sound while fighting at the Kingdom of Terra:
- A Whole Universe. We consider this online version only the beginning, a platform to launch a whole universe composed by this game, physical board game (we want to organise even regional, national or worldwide tournaments someday), novels, or even comics. Depending on the acceptation it gets, we'll reach more frontiers with WoT. If you want to know more, don't doubt to support us and just will be a matter of time!
Next you can read a short desciption of the kingdoms, their history and know more about their (main) recommended tactics. Each kingdom has been designed to be focused on a specific strategy, but it's not a close option. All kingdoms allow different playing modes and ways to win. Here we explain their general game concept, but you will finally choose your option.
Targos, when leaving Terra domains, funded Overlords kingdom, and he ruled all over the mountains. It was a long campaign of fighting Giants, Trolls or even the mighty Red Dragon, but finally they all joined to survive in the most dangerous environment of all Terra.
This kingdom has the best fast troops. However, it's not recommended to try in WoT a Fast Ramp Deck. As tested, the existence of battlefield makes really difficult this way to beat opponent, as troops need to reach their invocation line, and that gives them time enough to defend before losing. Anyway, there are also powerful troops and skills will help Overlord players to overcome that obstacle and finish the job (Raze skill is specially good in this sense).
Kingdom of human kind, was born due to the need of a common army, as town after another, like cities, were being destroyed by unstoppable Hellscion hordes. Now, having joined forces and the support of their father god Theridas, they've become a fearsome enemy.
At first, they don't have powerful troops. Their strenght is their life points, quite high, which allow them to resist alive more combats. Properly combined with their healers, resistance can be an effective tactic to play them. Spells and skills are focused on life gaining and damage preventing (absorb in WoT). All together can make slow decks a good choice, as players will resist until medium-late turns.
Then their (possibly) strongest point enters the scene: legions are a very powerful option, perfect to counter any other kingdom top troop. They will cost a big amount of mana, but they'll had no rival on the battlefield.
Centuries ago, in a town in Southern Theridom, a peasant listened a loud and terrifying noise coming from Firedune Desert. When he leaved his work to look up, he saw a kind of stampede running towards him. He'd never seen such those creatures, and wouln't again. That's all people know about the origin of demon hordes of Hellscions. Theridanian religion has a theory, but the fact is that it's a mistery for everyone, except for heretics and pyromancers, most of them human betrayers with power lust.
Playing hellscions is, probably, the most difficult option for a beginner. Like other kingdoms, it's possible to play different strategies, but it's the best option for control lovers. Main synergies are: producing more (weak) troops to change them for benefits (even enemy troops), or controling the game with hate cards and preparing the strongest troops and spells (or Inashka finisher skill) to end the game victorious.
Kingdom of Nature, protected by elves, considered its guardians. Elvish champions fight together with beasts or other kinds which live in forests and oceans. Their home is the whole world, or at least the part not inhabited by humans, orks or demons. As the've seen how their domains ahve been razed, they don't let anybody enter there, fighting any foreign menace to death.
Terra has (in obvious way) the most powerful troops, which makes from it, at first sight, the best kingdom. Even it could seem this kingdom is unbalanced, as we can observe a lot of strong creatures in fast, medium and late game range. However their power, concentrated in troops, can be countered by other kingdom tactics, for exmple with powerful spells that automatically can kill their troops.
Anyway, Terra is the perfect kingdom to begin playing WoT, asi its curve is good most of turns, and its playability isn't too complex.
PvP. The classical match game between players. After matches, they'll win xp and rise levels. Of course, rewards (as shields, boosters, or even new great cards) will be given to players when they reach new levels. This will be the first type of game you'll be able to enjoy.
Draft Mode (About 1.7€ entrance/shield amount not available yet). After selecting a kingdom between 2, players will be able to build new decks from random cards that appear to pick. 3 cards will appear each time, and players will have to choose one of them. So, pick after pick, luck and player skill join to decide how strong the deck will be. This will be a survivor mode, as players can be defeated twice before being eliminated. Third lost game means the player is out. They will earn prizes depending on the wins they got.
Tournament mode (cost not available yet). After paying entrance (money or shields), players will be able to choose "tournament match". Then they will play like in a normal PvP mode, with their own decks. The difference will be that losing or winning will modify an ELO Score, which situates the player in a concrete ranking position. After 2 weeks of qualifying, the best 12 players will play a Final Day Tournament. This will consist of knockout rounds which will decide final positions between classified players. All of them will get rewards but the podium (obv) will obtain considerably better prizes.
Tournament Mode (Fast version). This will consist of a version of the final phase of the 2 week tournament. When a players enters a Fast Tournament, gets into a room for max. 12 players. When full, knockout phase begins. Basically, the same system, but playable when anybody wants (and other 11 players, of course). Prizes, however, will be obviously lower than in big tournament. About daily Draft/Tournament Rewards, they'd get access during that time to both tournament modes (fast version daily, big tournament each 15 days).
Campaign Mode? Honestly, as our programming team is reduced and this would require a really hard and long work (as AI for this game mechanichs should be really advanced to be efficient), we aren't developing this mode at first. It's a matter of the degree of acceptation WoT gets that this mode becomes a fact someday. Of course, with good acceptation of the game, a bigger team and budget, this mode will be programmed, as Terra world has a deep and interesting story we'd love to tell, not only in books, but also in game.
We want backers to know the current status of our project, as we think it's an important thing to consider to support (or not) a serious project. So, next we indicate the point our project has reached when launching our kickstarter, by exposing the status of our main tasks:

For us, the most important is counting with a supporting community, and this maybe the best way to find people that shares our passion for games, who get involved with our project. Only with faithful followers who really enjoy Warlords of Terra we will finally make a whole universe of it. This is our chance to meet them, to find their support. After that, we won't deceive them!
But of course, money also matters, as we decided to improve the project with some additional elements like 3d battlefields, Sound effects for almost all cards and real voices for heroes. Our budget has reduced considerably and your help would be useful for us.
Moreover, we'd like to start printing our first physical game packs, in order to begin our project for the board game, as we already have some product demand. Anyway, if the project finds success in online version, we'll launch kickstarter for board version in some time.
We also want to start a strong marketing campaign to reach more people who could enjoy the game. We are conscious that a good product also dies if doesn't find its market. So, if our budget becomes stronger, we could add payment elements to our marketing campaign for it to be much more effective.
So, to pay all those things, plus taxes, rewards, etc. is what we will use the money for. Thanks for helping with that!
We've been asked directly: "How do we know you are not just succeeding Ks and then leaving?" Well, although this question seemed to us "strange", maybe some people could feel more confortable after a solvency analisis.
M2R GAMES is, in fact, a low budget and recently born company. Yes. But we want to point out several things:
1) We are not a couple of friends in a garage making fun by developing a game at home. We are a company that FOUND INVESTORS who liked and believed in WoT project. So, we have a SMALL budget, but will allow us to develop the game with or without KS success. This brings next point.
2) The budget we successfully took from private investment has decreased strongly to develop our game, so it's important for us to reinforce it mainly for a reason: making serious estimations about how long our budget will resist, we found that WoT could be released and resist with ZERO incoming for about 3-4 months. KS is a way to give WOT a fair and REAL CHANCE to get to general public and show what it really is: a GREAT GAME.
With a successful KS campaign, we won't only improve game development with new/better features. We'll also be able to reinforce marketing campaign (as it's being now our main lack) and subsist at least double the previously indicated time (even more). That will increase our success chances considerably.
By the way, backers will have our guarantee that, with KS campaign success, we'll release successfully game and survive enough time to enjoy (and make a lot of people enjoy) Warlords of Terra!
We hope this info helps to calm down some possible concerns about our project.
Our team has grown with time, and currently is formed by more than 30 members, including technical developers, illustrators, graphic designers, music composers, programmers... You can see all of their names in our website.
All of them have been important and necessary to develop WoT as it is today, but here we present their "captains", the members we could say represent all of them.

Risks and challenges
If it's true that normally artwork is an important cause of delays and we have already finished that, it's also true that programming WoT is being a hard work. Specially because our programming team, although is capable, it's reduced and has to work for many hours a day to make WoT real on time.
It is a possibility we find some difficulties in that aspect, although it's not provided. In that case, backers will be compensated getting:
> 1-7 days: 1 WOT Booster for each day of delay.
> 7-15 days: 1 WOT Masters Booster for each 2 days of delay. Of course rounded up.
> 15 days- 1 Month: 10 WOT Masters Booster + A Hero card (not in basic deck).
> More than 1 Month: in that rare case, appart from our strong apologies, backers will choose a kingdom and get all cards of that kingdom unblocked.
2. Server Collapse.
We are ensuring that's not happening by contracting (addapted to traffic, of course) the strongest server is possible. Anyway, if that happens, we pray our backers and players in general to be patient with that. For sure we will be working hard to solve that situation as soon as possible. If that would last for long time (days) we will compensate with some free products, but be comprehensive with that (please).
In any case, be conscious we are going to continue with Warlords of Terra and we will push hard to overcome any difficult situation, as we have been working on it for almost 3 years (more than 30 people) and we won't give up easily, you can be sure of that.
