$285k Stretch Goal Unlocked! The Ancestor's Trinkets

What a day! Thanks to the (beginning of the) end rush, we've hit that new stretch goal already!

As a special thank-you to all of you who have contributed so much passion and support to our project, we wanted to add something a little extra into the game...

There are rumours of 6 precious heirloom trinkets, each a powerful and unique item, carried by your ancestor on his ill-fated expedition. (See "House of Ruin" trailer.)  No one is sure what why he locked himself in his study for hours prior to departing for the unknown depths.  He made no comment, save that his pack was laden with the last of his material wealth, and his most valued tools of Occult divination.  Should you stumble across one of these relics, you'll instantly recognize it as being utterly unique and maddeningly powerful!

On the Horizon... the $300k Character Color Customization goal. A little description on that is in order:

Personalization meets UI functionality in this stretch goal.  Juggling multiple instances of a character class is made easier if you can quickly differentiate them at a glance.  Additionally getting in and giving your favourite heroes a signature palette is a fun way to make them stand out!

As many of you have commented on, the color palette of Darkest Dungeon might be compromised if we introduced wild neon colors, but rest assured, the options will be appropriately themed.  We'll provide a range of available options per hero, each hand-selected to ensure that the overall feel of the game isn't broken.

It will take a bit of art and programming coordination, but we think it will be a really nice addition to the game and allow you some more control over personalizing your party, and increase the UI transparency when your rosters get full.

Looks like we might hit that goal tomorrow! And beyond that, ever shuffling and bellowing, is...

Kickstart This!

We're giving two shoutouts to projects we've mentioned before. Both teams are good people doing good work, so we wanted to mention them again in case new backers have not heard of them.  Both projects are ending very soon and started right when Darkest Dungeon did--think of us all as the "Class of March 2014".

StarCrawlers is a "sci-fi dungeon crawl" where you lead a crew of freelance adventurers and navigate corporate intrigue on the finges of space. Think Legend of Grimrock in space! What's not to like?  The game is already funded, but they need your help getting to more great stretch goals and room to breathe. They're doing some cool stuff and are well into development already. Check it out!

Treachery in Beatdown City

Treachery in Beatdown City is a retro-inspired brawler with innovative tactical turn-based elements! It's really cool idea - kind of like blending Double Dragon with Fire Emblem or something.  They aren't funded yet, but it's still possible, and they could use your help making their dream happen.  Nuchallenger (Shawn Alexander Allen) has been busting their butts trying to get to the finish line, so if you like brawlers and are looking for something different, give 'em a boost!

Tomorrow is a New Day (and the last one of this KS Campaign!)

Let's hope it's action-filled. Thanks for backing us - we are incredibly grateful!

So little time left and so much money left to raise! (Briar's Resolve is Tested... Fearful)

The cover image is ever more appropriate! Less than a day now. Aaaaaah! Hope the campaign reaches the megagoal.

Thanks for the fun on this campaign. It's been entertaining!

I will be a veeeery sad panda if we won't have mod support. Let's not make me a sad panda, ok?

If we don't make the megagoal, and you happed to make the film anyways, I would buy it.

I actually am pretty excited about color customization. I think it'll be this little change that adds a lot. When a new character appears of a class you've seen before, your reaction will be less "ugh, another one of those" and more "Ooh, can't wait to see what this new person can do". And it'll also help if you have more than one of the same class - I think you can have up to 16 heroes in your stable? And there's 15 classes, so there will be an overlap if you fill it.

Are you thinking that new heroes will have a randomly selected color? People might not use it otherwise, which is certainly their choice, but it'd be a shame for it to be implemented and widely unused.

Keep up the good work! I've boosted my pledge from $40 to $99, and I've been spreading the word too!
