About this project
Shane Tyree (the artist) and I (Erik Dahlman, CEO of Albino Dragon) have worked on a lot of projects together, but recently we are probably best known for our successful Call of Cthulhu deck.
Creative freedom has shown us here at Albino Dragon just how deep the rabbit hole goes into the darker corners of Shane's twisted imagination. So to continue that celebration we have launched our new deck inspired by the works of Lewis Carroll.
Taking the lessons that we learned from the last project and building on the great community support that we found here, we look forward to providing another top tier product to our backers.
The White Rabbit playing card deck is printed by the famous United States Playing Card Company, featuring 56 poker-sized cards with custom faces that bring our vision of Lewis Carroll's tales to life. Depending on your pledge level, your deck(s) may include some or all of the following features
- Intricately designed playing card backs
- One of a kind court cards
- Unique tuck box
- Every playing card is based on tales from Lewis Carroll.
- Custom Jokers
- Magic finish that allows cards to handle smoothly & last longer than cheaper playing card decks
- Unique gaff card with multiple uses for card tricks
- A double-backed gaff card
- Your own likeness on one of the playing cards

Risks and challenges
We've gone through a few Kickstarter projects now and we've learned quite a bit about the fulfillment process. All of our vendors involved with this project have also worked closely with us in the past so we don't expect any surprises from them.
The biggest issue we had with fulfillment previously was not charging enough for shipping costs. We ended up spending a lot of our profits to cover additional shipping, specifically international which became much more costly when we allowed backers to add items to their pledges. We've compensated for that on this project by making very specific pledge levels in which the shipping costs are fixed.
The second issue also came from allowing backers to add items. It did not allow for a very clean survey or batch processing of any kind so many of the pledges took substantially longer to put together. We removed this issue the same way, by providing very finite and structured rewards.
While there are certainly always risks such as delays in production, crazy weather, etc we feel we have done our best to mitigate any delays wherever we can in the process to make this as smooth and efficient as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
It's not actually the decks that get more expensive, but the shipping. The sweet spot for us is 2 decks, once you start going over that weight, the costs to ship start to get pretty substantial. There are also more materials that go into packing those orders as well as time. We originally left only the 2 deck and 6 deck pledges for this reason, but enough people have asked for 3 and 4 so we have provided them, but the increased cost in shipping was the key factor we haven't posted them until now.
Post a comment and see if it's something anyone else would be interested in! If we get enough interest in a certain pledge level and we can figure out a way to bring it to you, we will.
We tried that on the last project and it took 40 days and 40 nights of straight fulfillment to get rewards to you. This time we should be able to complete all of them in a week or less, freeing us up to work on more cool stuff for you guys!
We actually started as a game company using Kickstarter. Our first two games are scheduled to arrive in February so that we'll be able to offer them as part of this campaign to ship with The White Rabbit decks. By supporting our past ventures, we can continue to branch out and offer more projects like this one.
All of The White Rabbit decks are limited edition. We're only doing this one run and that's it.
When we received the limited edition green Cthulhu decks, they all had the wrong custom seal on them. There were a few boxes left at Bicycle that were shipped to us at a later date. These turned out to have the correct seals on them which means that we now have a very rare subset of the already very rare limited edition (green) decks.
