About this project
This is our take on Patrick Rothfuss's novel, The Name of the Wind. We've worked very closely with him to create a deck that is as much a work of art as it is an homage to his amazing literary work.
And thanks to the star power that Patrick is lending to this project, we're looking forward to some guest appearances and special events over the next month. This is definitely going to be one of our most exciting projects yet!
We're a small gaming company (and by small we mean two guys) from Austin, TX that has embraced the spirit and community of Kickstarter. You can find some of our successful deck projects like Call of Cthulhu, The White Rabbit, and Synthesis.
Our commitment to quality and generally just having great backers that help us be fanboys has been a driving factor in everything that we do. We invite you to join in the Google Hangouts where Shane draws the cards live and dynamically incorporates backer feedback.

The first time I ever heard of Patrick Rothfuss was when Shane (the artist for this project) told me about Patrick's Worldbuilders organization. This was during the time that we ran the Call of Cthulhu project and we donated some decks to the charity and Patrick picked up some extras for the Tinker Packs.
On every project since, his organization has pre-ordered our products and remains the only company we've ever given a wholesale discount to. With each successful project our relationship with Patrick strengthened and it was clear that we were capable of providing the quality product that he wanted for his own project.
Which has brought us to this particular Kickstarter project. After months of contract work for licensing and a lot of discussions about how we envisioned the translation of his characters into this format, we're finally ready to tackle this very personal project for us.

Risks and challenges
As with every project, we run the risk of natural disasters and other cataclysmic events interfering with manufacturing and shipping schedules (sorry, in the event that Shane or I sing the wrong songs and attract the Chandrian, we will not be fulfilling this project).
With only a two man operation, if something happens to either of us, that will run the risk of impacting the project. Fortunately, we're both hermits so we have mitigated much of the outside world to prevent that from happening. Except for cholesterol, that keeps making its way into our homes.
Having run a few successful Kickstarters previously, we've gotten a pretty good process down for handling pledges, shipping, and fulfillment. We can't promise that there won't be any mistakes, but we've worked very hard to make sure that if we do, there won't be many.
We also use the same vendors we have worked with previously. This gives us an excellent idea about their accuracy in costs and turnaround time so that we have been able to plan accordingly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Just add in the appropriate amount of funds for the item (including any extra shipping if international). When the project closes, we'll ask you what the extra funds are for.
In poker, there is the possibility that the dealer will accidentally fold your hand for you if you don't protect your cards. Our card cover is a 1.75" diameter brass coin that you can put on top of your cards to keep this from happening. It also makes a stylish dealer button.
