Greetings everyone,

This is Christopher Nicholas, general manager with Ensemble Mik Nawooj.

As I type this, we're @ 79% of our budget and rising! This is very exciting news given we have about 16 days to go. Today I booked the recording date for the project. It’ll be Friday, June 6th. It'll be a jam packed full day of recording & editing @ 25th Street Recording Studios. The project will be engineered & mastered by Jeremy Goody and mixed by Reto Peter. Extremely excited to be working with these guys.

In addition, you may have noticed a change on the project home page. I’ve decided to put all the musicians pics and bios on the front page as opposed to in these updates. That way, you can really get to know the amazing people we work with in one pass.

Lastly, we’ve made an adjustment to our $2,000 tier. For this tier, donors will receive the $1,000 rewards and a special piece for woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, french horn, and bassoon) or piano trio (flute, cello, and piano) dedicated to the donor, composed by the music director. This will be premiered by Frequency 49 or Phonocrome, ensembles comprised of highly sought-after Bay Area musicians. Check out their info below:

Frequency 49

Frequency 49is an SF Bay Area-based woodwind ensemble dedicated to performing wind chamber music at the highest level of artistry for diverse audiences. Through compelling programming, flexible instrumentation, and outreach, we aim to broaden awareness of a different side of chamber music.

Phonochrome was founded by Allegra Chapman, piano; Laura Gaynon, cello; and Elizabeth Talbert, flute. This next-generation ensemble emerged from a series of conversations among friends at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Hailing from Carnegie Mellon, Yale, and The Juilliard School, Phonochrome’s three-woman core unites a flexible roster of dynamic young artists to increase the accessibility and impact of chamber music while maintaining unwavering dedication to performance at the highest level. Each concert is a thoughtfully woven musical narrative accomplished through innovative and thematic programming.
