Fall of Civilization – A post-apocalyptic strategy/simulator game.

Single Player Non-Linear Isometric Style Game.

You play as a survivor of the end of the world ,creating your own story, controlling a faction of people you choose how you live in the new world and what the rules are. 

Build up your economy and upgrade your base to draw in more survivors to your community, but beware the stronger you get the more likely other factions will start looking at you. The choices you make of who you decide to be in this new world determine how the world and its people will treat you.

Economy System- You will have to work hard and search the map for your resources, each one is essential in this new life and can help you in a multitude of ways. Provisions will keep your survivors alive and happy, as well as letting them travel the map in search of more resources or survivors. Building supplies will repair and maintain your equipment, while also being used to upgrade and fortify your base. Ammo is used sparingly to defend against potential attackers or used in an offensive war with another faction.

Intelligent AI - Factions will have their own agendas and motivations. Depending ofcourse how you treat the world around you, featuring the morality system, some factions may like you more than others or vice versa hate you more than others. That can lead to anything from friendly trades to all-out war. They are just trying to survive like you, completing missions and looking for supplies, although some might look for supplies by raiding other factions.

Strategic combat - Your survivors are as much of a resource as anything else. Build up your base to attract more and slowly build up your army, for defensive or offensive reasons.
Equip survivors with guns to give them better range, or give them melee weapons to send them up close and personal.

Base Development - It wouldn’t be a strategy game without the ability to build yourself up to be the best faction in the wasteland you can be. Maintaining and upgrading your base will be an important task to make sure you stay at the top. There are many varieties of rooms you can create in your base that will allow different abilities or bonuses. E.G. A room to grow crops will help with your output food supplies.

Perk System- I’ve mentioned a lot to you that survivors will play a big part in the game and are as valuable a resource as even food, but I haven’t yet explained why. When you gain a new survivor or a current one levels up, you get the ability to level them up on their respective perk tree. This is essentially what their role is in your society, whether its Scavenger, Security, Farmer, Repairman or more!

Randomized Missions – As a gamer myself, I know that games with a very linear style can get boring quickly. That’s why I’m implementing a randomized mission system so no play through you have will be the same. Missions can pop up at any time and any place over the map so keep an eye out and be ready to send out some survivors to complete them if you deem it’s worth the risk.

Scavenging Tiles- Missions won’t be the only thing out there on the map to do. If your resources get dangerously low, you can send out a group of survivors into the wasteland to try and scavenge. This can be done by finding a suitable “scavenge” tile and sending your survivors to it, immobilizing them for a number of rounds but if they are successful you could be well rewarded in resources.

By the year 2012, there were 7 billion on earth and counting.
Resources dwindling over the world, pollution at an all time high and nothing seemed to be looking up.
As food resources started to go down, densely populated areas began reaching critical levels of aggression. Theft, Rioting, Murder, Arson

Within a year half of the world was at war with the other.
Most wanted resources, some just wanted to thin out the population.
In this new age of war, pollution was higher then it had been in decades.
The fight over nature, was changing nature.
Half of the world began to dry up and become hotter, while the other half of the world became freezing to the point of death on exposure.
Thats when society crumbled. Thats when the missiles were fired. Ending the wars and everything else.

 So I imagine right now your looking through all the information, the numbers and the pictures.
All the while thinking, why should I fund you and this project?
Whats the certainty that this will be released as stated?
This is going to be my main focus of the next 10-11 months, It is also the project that decides my degree.
So as im sure you would understand, I will be treating this very seriously.
I have a deep passion for games and now that i have already received an amazing amount of backers in such a short amount of time, I feel obligated that I will not let a single person down, Including myself.

 Right now the game is in Early Development.
Meaning its still in the process of being built, not from the ground up thanks to the Turn Based Toolkit, but the Alpha will not be ready for at least another month or two.
All screenshots and in-game work I will update on the page itself.

My budget goal for this project is £1000, which will allow me to hire artist/s for one survivor character model and one faction base model. If I earn more than that I do have extra plans for the money as followed:

I am a solo developer from the UK, making this project for my final year project at Stafford University. My main focus for the year is a Dynamic AI System & Base Development but I am going to do as much as I can with the whole game as a whole. Art isn’t my specialty and since it’s just me working on this project full time, I need to hire and outsource my art so I have as much as a professional standard as possible while focusing my time on the gameplay side
As my video said, I have experiences in Game Maker, Unity, Unreal Engine. As-well as Photoshop.

You may still be thinking that while my credentials are fine, it still seems like a big scope for May. So let me give you some reasons to trust me and ease your doubt.

This project officially starts in the middle of september, and even then the first few weeks if not months would be entailed of early planning of your project.

I started the designs of this project in early July and spent weeks researching, on forums, talking to other indie devs and laying out a solid foundation.

Throughout this campaign I have also spent nearly everyday working on the engine to produce prototype features and more, so this isn't on the back burner for me.

Risks and challenges

I am approaching my 4th and final year of my Game Design university course.
Game design is something iv always enjoyed since i started, its been as much a hobby as it is work so i have no issues coming back from a day at campus and continuing doing work on my projects.
This project i am pitching to you , will be my final year project for university.
So it will always be my top priority, along with the timescale i have set I am confident this will be completed.
